Was I pleased? Yes.

However, it is the damndest thing. You see, last season, in a game like this, it's just "eh, whatever." But with Cam back there...with Smitty looking like the Smitty of old...I just had hope. My mindset of "we're not going to be a complete team" was gone after the 2nd TD pass. We had a chance at a win. We played them hard for 60 minutes and had a chance each of those minutes to win the game. And while I am TOTALLY stoked that our QB played like a seasoned vet, I can't help but feel disappointed beyond belief that we lost the way that we did.

The pass rush looked good today in my opinion, better than I expected at the line of scrimmage. That special teams gaffe with the poor tackling giving up the TD on the punt return was most disturbing.

Fitz made that big catch to convert late on a third down, but he had been held in check all day long, so that was acceptable.

      I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.

      Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
