I was wrong

*long winded version of saying he was wrong without saying he was wrong*

I have said from the beginning that I just want to see flashes this year that give me something to believe in for the future. Something that Clausen didn't do once last year. He has already exceeded that.

I don't expect him to be Dan Marino his rookie year. If he goes 8-24 with 3 picks next week it won't hamper my excitement. After all, he is still a rookie. But in one game he answered a lot of questions for a "project who isn't ready" (not saying you said that but others have)

Oh, and Narwocki sucks monkey balls. I kid I kid (not really). :D

See above.

Week one was great, but it is still just week one. I fully expect him to struggle, and looking at who's coming to town, it could start as early as next week. Again though, you can't pull him. Gotta sink or swim.

Still haven't seen him take a really big hit yet (some tackles today, but no major shots). I'll feel a lot better if we can get that out of the way.

Since this poor Cardinals defense and rookie CB are the excuse for how well Cam played, I'll be expecting most QBs to throw for way more than 422 yards against them.

Right?

Do you seriously expect anything close to a 400 yard performance against the Packers defense?

I'm thrilled with the start, but let's not get carried away with the expectations.

i was wrong

i was fully 100% on the don't draft him bandwagon. i wanted Dareus or Peterson(who will both be studs) and hated the idea of taking Cam. there is a reason i'm not a GM. couldn't be more excited about the future of the team on offense but still think we're gonna come away with 4-6 wins this season.

today was a good day.

Of course not, I'm not talking about the Packers.

It's not a statement about specifically you, but I've seen a lot of Cam naysayers using the "The Cardinals defense is crappy" excuse as to why Cam did well.

If that's the reason he did well, then every other QB should do well against them too, right? I'll be expecting 422 yards from every QB. Maybe some 500 and 600 yarders from the elite quarterbacks.

Realistically, the Cardinals defense probably is crappy.

That doesn't take away from the things Newton did right though.

McDermott makes me miss our Tampa-2 and Cover-2 under Fox. But it's early, so we'll see how things progress.

I can think of some mods and members with massive swag who were a lot harder on Cam than Saltman.

McDermott makes me with we had the same talent that was on those teams...

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
