How long do you give Deangelo Williams?

He tweeted that they haven't jelled yet, and that's understandable considering the new offense and some new personnel. But, regardless Jonathan Stewart has shown he is more than capable of being an Elite starting RB. Yes I said the "E" word.

So here's my question, how many games of inconsistency do you give D-Will before you consider that big contract a huge mistake? Or for the reverse question, how long until you believe he starts to earn that contract? How long until he actual breaks 100 yards rushing in a game?

I will admit I was on the keep D-Will bandwagon along with everyone else, I just haven't seen much from him since Pre-Season, and that's continued into the first 3 games of the regular season. When your rookie QB leads the team in rushing yards, you need to stop and fix whatever is going wrong.

I love watching Cam, but I don't want him to have to throw 50 times a game.

I considered that big contract a mistake a year before it was ever offered based upon reasons that have nothing to do with performance.

I never thought he'd actually not be productive.

Hurney has a literal black cat walking in front of him at all times.

once the run game gets back on track in a week or two, all these threads will disappear along with most of the criticisms for the deal he got. (of course player fanboys like number28 will always hate because they think it's a competition between the two instead of something that makes this team stronger).

i said it in another thread just a minute ago...once the run game gets back on track this will be one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.

Just a little FYI

First game hitting +100 rushing yds. in a game

2007: wk 6

2008: wk 5

2009: wk 6

I see a trend there....everyone knows he starts late....how about we wait until after the season is half over to start demanding the money back.

get out of here with your facts and such.

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
