I hope Cam has a "QB guru" like Tom Brady does

Stretching and doing all those "core" exercises that strengthens your back and makes it more flexible is important. Don't knock yoga. From what I hear, it really does help players avoid injuries if they do it correctly and safely.

Why not write us a huge post detailing the best conditioning routine and then post it so Cam can read about it and get more novel ideas.....................

Aren't you interested in trying to find out what the "secrets of success" are with the top people in any field? That's what I had in mind with this thread.

I hear when Cam did that commercial with Brady he was listening to him closely and asking good questions. I hope Cam stays that way for the rest of his NFL career. When an NFL QB decides there's nothing else to learn and he starts "coasting" and relying on his past success he's in trouble. That old saying is true ... "if you're not growing, you're dying". Brady and other top QBs know this.

Let me get this straight. You are asking a bunch of posters, half of which are either unemployed, college students or just starting out to contribute to a thread where the result is to learn and reveal the secrets of success with top people in their field.................

Seriously?????

Every one of these posts are tl;dr

I kept adding new stuff to the first post over the last hour. Sorry.

In a nutshell, I just want Cam's QB coach Shula to make it his mission in life to make his hot new Heisman trophy winning QB into a superstar like Brady, Peyton, Brees, etc. That would have been a shorter post.

Gotta put pressure on the assistant coaches like Mike Shula too you know. You don't see the assistant coaches very often. If he's not fixing things that can be fixed with Cam, he SHOULD feel the pressure.

I think of the head coach and the assistant coaches as being like the players. They better work hard and bring their "A game" in every practice and every game. If not, then they tend to be replaced with somebody better ... just like with the players.

Don't know why I am bothering, but one question...have you watched the Panthers play this year? If so, do you know what Shula looks like? Here's a hint...he is the guy that spends the entire game sitting with Cam and coaching him.

With all due respect, if any of us can give useful tips to someone on the Panthers staff about how to develop players or win games, we have the wrong staff.

I'm not saying that Shula is doing a bad job as QB coach. He's done pretty well so far in most things. I just hope he's uploading as much of his football wisdom as possible into Cam's brain as efficiently as possible. Don't want to overwhelm Cam though.

They say that a huge part of becoming an elite NFL QB is brainpower. Football IQ. Cam's got the physical skills part in most things except maybe tweaking his throwing motion, timing, etc.

I hope Shula is being like a famous college professor and he's giving Cam written tests and making him draw up plays on the board and in the film room, etc. Hopefully, Shula is already doing all that and more. The goal is for Cam to become a ph.D in NFL quarterbacking.

You should coach QB coaches. You are amazing.

    • I was watching a YouTube and it was said that scout and GM insider types were saying the NIL had killed rounds 4-7. I don’t know that I buy it, seems like it might for a year or maybe two but then those guys have to move on.  NCAA is apparently about to give 5 years of eligibility. It is gonna skew those entrants older maybe.
    • Miller being less raw and more pro ready makes sense of why they picked him. With us having a capable starter in Walker the lower floor higher ceiling player makes sense for us as well. I agree with that.
    • I'm from Michigan and have had this discussion with my Lions friends, and they all agree with me, they were never going to take Freeling over Miller.  As, yes, you are correct, they could have left Sewell at RT and taken Freeling, but they are in a SB contention window right now. An OL with Freeling at LT and Sewell at RT is not as strong as Sewell at LT and Miller at RT would be for this upcoming season and likely at least next year as well. 5 years it could be looked back upon as a long term "mistake" to take Miller over Freeling, but for a franchise like the Lions, you can't worry about the long term when you have current SB aspirations.  It's all about maximizing their current SB window over the next 1-3 years. And it's not about style, it's about day 1 readiness, and a lot of "experts" aren't even sure if Freeling is ready to play Week 1 yet at the position he's used to, let alone switching to a side he hasn't played before, but a career starting RT is going to be more than ready to fill that role for them Week 1. I'm 100% convinced that if our draft positioning was swapped, we'd have still taken Freeling, they'd have still taken Miller, and both teams would have got the OT that they preferred due to what each team needs right now and what their current realistic aspirations are for the 2026 season. We're in a position where we can let our drafted OT sit and learn for a bit, they needed a week 1 starter, for me that's where this discussion becomes very easy to understand why each team took the player they did.
