Last kickoff

Eh :04 wasn't enough time to really do anything the game was over by that point.

Not only was it not enough time but we had no timeouts to stop the clock anyway...

Is this true? If we could have gotten possession of the onsides in :04 then we could have had a new play clock and one chance at a hail mary.

why wouldn't we have kicked the onsides?

Mare did exactly what he should have done...play the ball behind the front line and give a gunner a chance at scooping the ball up and running it into the end zone. 4 seconds was not enough time to recover the ball, we had to pick it up and run it in for a TD.

That kick was planned exactly how it went down....we needed a lucky bounce and a fast gunner to retrieve the ball in stride, then run it in for a score.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
