After watching the Bucs tonight...

part of me would like to tap the brakes here, but honestly i haven't seen anything in either freeman or ryan this year that has made me disagree that cam is the best non-brees QB in the NFCS.

i'm also not as afraid of the other teams in the division like i was heading into the season. i thnk we are looking better than i thought we would and the other teams aren't looking nearly as studly. i can pretty confidently say that we won't get swept by any team this year and we could end up sweeping either the falcons or the bucs.

I never was. The Falcons traded a ton for a WR when there D was in shambles. Ditto for the Saints and Ingram. The Bucs really didn't do anything. This team could turn out to be one of the NFL's best in a year or two. Once you have the elite QB the rest is easy.

i was a lot more afraid of the falcons offense. i thought theirs was going to be a pretty spectacular offense what had to score high because their defense couldn't do jack. aside from adding julio, i didn't see them as being improved over last year. they pretty much shot themselves in the foot with that trade, though. esp. when your QB is nothing more than a fairly adequate game manager.

the saints...i don't think they added much of anything, either. they didn't really have to, though. i don't think that is a team that built for the long haul, though. give them another year or two and they will be dropping back into obscurity.

The Saints got really lucky is all. They landed one of the games best QB's (who turns trash at WR into treasure) as a FA. They didn't even have to draft him. As soon as he's gone there done. They also needed help on the D side and they traded there 1st this year for Ingram (why do teams do that for RB its just retarded to me)

The Falcons fell for the shiny hood ornament WR. Happens to a few clubs every year. They used 2 1st they desperatly needed on D. They will be nipping at our heels next year but will never win a SB with that D.

The Bucs are the enigma in the future. Freeman could have them competing but if they don't start opening up there checkbooks they will never be more then a wild card team.

That leaves us with one of the most exciting O in the NFC and with a HC who has a history of #1 Defenses. We could become the Pats/Colts of the NFC in a couple of years. I can never remember being this excited about the future of Panther football (maybe after 03 but wow that seems like eons ago)

You must have missed Brees' stats then.

More yards, more TD'd, less int's and 70% completion rate. Not to mention 3-1.

Cam has about 20-30 less pass attempts than Brees and isn't far off in yards. Also, Cam's 100+ rushing yards and rushing TDs kind of offset that. He only has 1 more pick than Brees. Not bad for a rookie.

I think if we don't give up stupid special teams blunders and have horrible penalties called against us we can win. The run D is suspect at times but take away the three run backs, two that were scores and the one that resulted in the forte run, 21 points we win the game.

Both the run D and ST are killing us. Run D to me seems to be a personnel issue where as ST seems to be poor tacking (so far at least). I think ST will improve but our Run D needs new blood. Don't forget Hester is damn good returner as well.
