Explore the possibility of trading Otah for a DT before the deadline?

A defensive tackle doesn't solve the run game. Sure our interior isn't strong right now but neither is any other level against the run. Neither of our safeties are strong safeties and our best linebackers are out. James Anderson is good, but he's no thumper.

If Bell turns out to be a definite stud, then maybe Otah gets moved. But, realistically, this talk is jumping the gun by a season. We are going to have to ride this one out with the defensive tackles we have and I'd look for us to add even more defensive line depth next year in the draft.

No.

Silly thought. Yeah trading away pieces of our OL that has doen a GREAT job for our rookie QB sounds like a good idea. Worst case scenario is Otah becomes a backup/situation player who is a BEAST until his contract is up. Otah is too young and too good.

He stays until he permanantly goes to IR or his contract is up.

Great OL depth is not "expendable".....not when he finally land our first player of Cam caliber. Just silly.

Another young DT is the last thing we need. If we had any interior pressure, we would have won last week. The lack of it allowed Brees' to convert about 6 of all those 3rd down conversions, including two crucial ones on the last drive. If you don't see the need for a DT, you aren't paying attention.

Otah was a great player in Fox's offense. In Rivera's he isn't as useful. Bell and Otah are almost splitting reps evenly at this point.

Drew Brees before the Cam was absurd on 3rd downs so far this season and hands down better than anyone in the NFL leading up to that game.

also, our LB play is just as weak as our DT play right now.

what you have to pay attention to is what this season is all about......it is about growing.

For example, McClain/Fua as 2nd year players, with a healthy LB corp behind them could be very good. Then you look back at why we pointlessly traded away a very strong offensive lineman......for some random newb b/c you wanted better play in a developmental season. OL depth > DL depth.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
