Joudge Clarks view on the panthers

People clamour for a big receiving TE...we have two of them and both are going to be good for us (providing we ever get around to using the TE much).

Barnidge was known as a good receiving option and a red zone threat at Louisville.

6'6 234lbs

2004: 2 starts in 12 games played. Got 7 recps for 85 yards and 4 TDs

2005: 7 starts 17 recps, 240 yards, 2 TDs

2006: 13 catches, 511 yards, 4 TDs 16.5 yards per catch

2007: 53 recps, 655 yards, 6 TDs

as far as Rosario goes...what we have seen in the past from him is a big play guy. in '07 he showed that in just a couple games. 2 TDs from 6 catches? Not too bad. That first game last year he was clutch and I am inclined to believe that was no fluke. He just was used more for blocking throughout the year and we ran the ball in successfully. Rushing is always a better option than passing in red zone situations if you can do both. Rosario last year had 31 targets and 18 recps for 209 yards and a TD. 11 of those 18 receptions resulted in 1st downs.

Jeff King, last year, had 33 targets and 21 catches for 195 yards and 1 TD. 8 of those catches were 1st downs. Why is he the starter, then? It isn't because he is more reliable than Rosario. Probably because of blocking...the primary use for a TE in our offense.

If Banidge packs on some muscle this offseason I can easily see him getting a lot more PT. The same thing is true for Rosario. If he can get more disciplined and both of them improve their blocking, we will see a lot more of them. I expect there will be an open competition for TE this year.

The best blocker will still most likely be the starter.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
