The Colts are a warning to the Panthers

The Colts are just a bad organization that Manning has been covering up a bit. Even if he was healthy I think they'd still be a very bad team right now. Year after year all they do is get new weapons for Manning and neglect the rest of the team.

I'm not the slightest bit worried about the Panthers ever being in the position they are.

interestingly, the lesson I got from the Colts is that no matter how great your starting QB is, don't neglect your backup completely.

I can see the other 'lessons' mentioned in the OP and in other posts, though.

Call me crazy but I couldn't help thinking about this myself, and about 3 weeks ago when Fox was talking like The Golden Calf of Bristol was never going to see a start under him, I would have traded for The Golden Calf of Bristol to make him a back-up in a heartbeat.

He would have been perfect. And I'd rather have The Golden Calf of Bristol than a guy like Vince Young. They're designing plays around Cam's mobility so if he goes down we'll be even more screwed than we would normally be otherwise.

That's not going to happen now though. Philly was smart and wrapped up Young when they knew Vick would be the starter.

there is nothing wrong w/building around an elite qb. the colts' failure lies in not identifying enough talent in recent years-- take a look at their recent draft history-- not relying heavily on manning. qb is an important position, just the way it goes

really?

Trent Dilfer

Brad Johnson

Jeff Hostetler

Jim Plunkett

forget making it TO the SB, these 4 jokers won the SB. your point is invalid in every way its possible to be invalid.

I think this is why we don't need to toss out Clausen just yet. He will never be Cam Newtons caliber but players get hurt. Imagine Newton having a season ending injury 5 years from now and Clausen in our system that long.

whether jimmy's 1 year, 0 years, or 15 years in the same system isn't going to make him throw the long pass better
