Yea, I agree with the "he can do everything except cover WRs" sentiment. His sack was beautiful, his ST play was great, his drive and energy is a huge boost. But he just gets burned, lost and out positioned so much it's not even funny. I'm not even gonna harp on the height problem, that usually isn't even his biggest problem when covering WRs. He often bites on first moves and gets out of position. I guess I'd say he just isn't the smartest CB. He plays with a lot of energy and can often correct it in time to make the tackle, but he's just out of position SO often. But he does make plays in other ways, just not in coverage.

I'm not saying he's perfect, but do people expect all of our CB's to be shutdown guys? He gives up catches, but rarely gives up big plays, is generally a very good tackler and is a very solid cover guy. He's too aggressive at times, but doesn't warrant the trashing he gets on here. Everyone raves about Butler but he's failed to overtake the starting role.

How 'bout that Week 8 prediction?

Spot on. No he is not a shut down CB but he has played very well and I dont really mind where he is at unlike Marshall who stunk up the joint when he was here.

Captain has been playing tough this year. He is lacking some in coverage, but i love to see his fiery attitude out on the field. The DB's have looked much better than expected so far.

The past 2 years it seemed like Gamble had regressed a little, but he has been playing great this year. I saw this PFF article about Revis, and it mentions Gamble in coverage in the middle paragraph. I'll cut out the BS for you non-readers:

Picking on Revis this season is yielding a QB rating of just 2.9. Yes, 2.9. The next best mark among starting corners is the 39.4 of the Panthers’ Chris Gamble and there are only three players under 50.
