Newton versus Luck

There is nothing to compare. Newton is the greatest rookie qb of all time and Luck is a college prospect who has never won anything.

:iagree:

I wonder when they will start comparing our #1 pick to NFL QBs.

They did, Russell, (Vince) Young, some even pointed to Leaf. They were so wildly wrong that they now are scrambling to find someone to compare him too...

Only ones that make sense are Luck & Superman. They have to go with Luck because Supes wouldn't be fair since he has weaknesses such as a red sun & kryptonite... Also... He's fictitious.

I'm not at this time willing to say that Cam will ever be better than Peyton at his peak. Peyton could not only make all the throws but also drove the offense in a way no other NFL QB can.

But Newton will be amazing, no doubt about that.

He beat Luck for the Heisman. As far as they were concerned Cam Newton was the better player THE best player in college that year, not Luck. Those guys know more football than anybody here.

Eeeeeehhh, Heisman doesn't always go to the best player. It usually goes to the QB or RB (whichever is more famous/prominent) on the best team. Jason White was never the best player in the country.

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
