double standard

When the defense makes mistakes we start losing count

The offense still points points on the board and have put 20-30 points up every game. That should be enough to win, no defense worthy of post season should be giving up 21+ points, especially not every single game.

It's not a double standard becasue the offense is producing.

I never said anything about injuries. Every team has injuries. Whats your point?

Oh dang it. Davis and Beason are hurt. Ok Adrian Peterson these two guys are on the sidelines...pretty please dont truck through the rest of our paid professional nfl defenders please noooo nooo!!!!

Excuses are like a$$holes.

our defense is hurting doesn't mean i was talking about the injuries in that post. Our defense is hurting as a whole.

Our run defense is hurting.

Getting off the field after 3rd downs is hurting..

Etc, etc.

Does that clarify, that our defense is hurting?

there is the double standard. The defense did produce well for majority of the game. Much more than anybody could have hoped for.

Has it been that way all season? No. No it hasn't.

Thanks for making more excuses though.

ok pantherclaw....lets make you happy and praise the fact that our defense gives up a ton of points and is about dead last in rush defense. They have two rookie DTs...lets give em a break and take them out for pizza and soda after their games.

I think I'll wait until they knock someone on their ass.

I dont hate on the offense. Why? Cam is the best rookie ever. Steve Smith stiff arms people 6 feet under and is having a pro bowl season. Stewart throws Saints LB's on the ground and flips them on blitz pick ups. Olsen looks like Thor. Shockey has a bad ass Eagle tat on his arm and oh he still plays with a broken finger..he has to catch missiles from Cam w/ a broken finger but still plays...i'll keep going if you want?

Key defensive statistics rankings

Interceptions: 26

Rushing yards per attempt against: 24

Rushing TDs given up: 32

Rushing yards against: 29

Rushing yards per game: 29

Opponents rushing attempts against our defense: 31

First downs given up: 26

First downs given up by run: 31

Defensive third down percentage: 31

Defensive penalty yards: 26

Number of defensive touchdowns: 0 (1 of only 10 teams this season not to have a defensive TD)

Our offense can get better and our defense played better Sunday. But one game a season does not make.

that's not what i'm asking for.

But thanks.

You also forgot anderson is playing out of his mind. Gamble is playing some of his best ball. Captain is balling. Johnson is proving he's worthy of the contract he has.

I can praise players also. That' isn't the point.

I'm not asking anyone to praise our young defense.

Well if that is what you think I'd have to say you need to hope for a lot more, the Vikings aren't exactly the greatest team right now and the defense has to finish the game out. The offense has it's problems, but if you had to pick a side contributing the most to our losses it would be the defense (assuming ST isn't an option). Losing is a team thing just like winning, but there is just more work to be done fixing the defense, I am not sure why this is not obvious to you. This is what people are complaining about.

i agree.

This year has been nothing but a lot of bitter disappointment on the defensive side of the ball.

Was expecting some exciting changes.

Then we lost beason.

Davis.

Piss poor execution in general, which i didn't expect from a rivera coached team.

Don't even get me started on the penalties.

Uggg.

I saw improvement this last game. Is a shame that our team wasn't able to benefit from it, in means of a win.

Hoping with the bye week, our young defense will continue to improve.

you talk about double standard...well Im giving you an explanation. To most people the offense gets a pass. Couple turnovers here and there...whatever....they keep us in the game.

But this offends you...it upsets you.

i don't need the explanation..thank you.

If jake delhomme was turning the ball over, nobody would be giving him a pass. I know, jake isn't a rookie.

The defense kept us in the vikings game too.

Yes you do. You made a cry baby thread about it.

Jake Delhomme..

Ok. You just made the worst post of the night.

    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
    • Willis was impressive last night given the circumstances. GB and SF seem to just have it figured out as far as QB goes.   It's frustrating, but I enjoy seeing our old players find success elsewhere.
