Is that how u see it?? Really?:D

I don't think anyone really feels the media is trying to "destroy" Cam but it's clear our media enjoy playing on the emotions and prejudices of their audience to satisfy their own agenda.

That ESPN show proved that.

The show was about the Alabama and Auburn rivalry. That played a part in the rivalry's recent past. It was more about Alabama fans' reaction than about the scandal itself. They spent far more time talking about the dude that poisoned Auburn's trees than about the Cam scandal, and they definitely talked a lot more about how awesome Cam was in college.

By the way at the end of the video they were doing a "where are they now" section and mentioned that Auburn had been cleared of any wrongdoing by the NCAA.

What the hell do you think ESPN's "agenda" is? Look I love Cam, I think he's fantastic, I was one of the more vocal posters criticizing that retard Bradshaw in that one thread, check if you don't believe me. But overall there is no anti-cam agenda. He's been far more hyped and praised than any other rookie.

There WAS media bias against him before and after the draft, plenty of people doubted him including myself. But now almost everyone is on board (besides fans of other teams, who never get on board with opposing QBs before they get their ass kicked a few times).

Is this for real??? ESPN is seriously milking this ish as if it was a real scandal and not some bull-poo they made up to appease those Alabama loving fans. And I guess we're suppose to believe this ish cause TPTB at ESPN said so...

ESPN didn't create the documentary. But I guess this being the Huddle, it is still a big conspiracy against the Panthers.

That show had a brief bit about the Cam stuff but the vast majority had little/nothing to do with him. You are right they are playing up the rivalry, but the last few months have given them ammunition to do it unrelated to Cam even, such as that crazyass tree dude.

It's not about Cam...or any one else. My comments was more in part to how our sports media operate today vs. in the past. They were way more objective and weren't spinning non-stories into stories for the sake of stirring up fans simply for web hits and attention.

I personally didn't watch the ESPN show. But when I did turn on my tv, it was on ESPN because yes I love sports, the show was on. The only part I caught was the Harvey Updyke stuff, which was watch for a minute.

My point was, this whole pay-for-play scandal that was intentionally directed at Auburn was fueled by bitter school rivalry and YES ESPN assisted. There is no denying that the sports media favor some school over others and it was clear that the Cam Newton story was just another Alabama/Auburn rivarly story and ESPN making it clear which side of the flames they wanted to fan.

I guess now that the so called scandal is over, TPTB at ESPN now want to tell a story exposing what someone like myself figured out since last year. The Auburn/ Alabama feud had not a damn thing to do with Cam or what his father did or didn't do. That story was spun into a scandal simply to add another log to help fuel a feud between two schools that had existed long before Cam was even born.

The Hatfields and the McCoys had nothing on today's Auburn/Bama feuds...WOW

Anyway, there is a REAL scandal brewing at Penn State. Will be observing to see how our sports media handles it. I really doubt if it will be as big as what took place with Auburn because unlike Auburn, what is happening with Penn State is not only REAL but some deep ish. And it's happening to a well respected coach and team.

It was a huge story at the time. What did you expect ESPN to do?

Besides, earlier in the thread you seemed to have a big problem with this documentary, now you claim that your problem is with how ESPN handled the scandal while it was happening. Do you still have a problem with the documentary, and if so why?

I've seen a lot of coverage on it so far. Will it be as "big" as the Auburn scandal? Who knows, the sports related consequences aren't as high, Penn State isn't undefeated playing for a championship, or have a heisman candidate, or playing a potentially inelligable player. ESPN didn't make as big of a deal about UNC's football scandal as they did about Auburns and Ohio State's even though UNC's was probably worse, and that's because UNC isn't as relevant.

ESPN did a documentary on the UNC/Duke basketball rivalry a few years back, didn't they? I think ESPN's only bias is against teams that don't get big ratings.

They are airing it right? That means fans will flock to their site and discuss it...Mission completed...

Did you even watch it? It wasn't the focus of the whole hour, only a few minutes. And they used it to talk about the rivalry, not to discuss it's validity. If they didn't discuss it, then it would have been a terrible documentary that had very little validity with people in that rivalry.

Don't worry about footballisasport....he hates the media or something and he tries to find controversy in everything. It was an excellent piece, which is what I've come to expect from the 30 for 30 documentaries....

It was a fantastic show and it touched on everything in an unbiased way. I kind of expected it to be more pro-Bama, but to the producer's credit, it wasn't. It was fair and moreover it was entertaining. If you had to define the word "badass" in the dictionary, just put Coach Dye's picture in there.

Mango one of these days you will realize that everything is all about Cam and that the media is trying to destroy him every way it possibly can.

if you can't see that the media went after Cam Newton with everything that they had, both during the season and leading up to the draft, i don't know what to tell you.

the NCAA investigation is over. does Cam still have his Heisman? did Auburn have to forfeit their NC? is Cam the stupid, lazy, QB with poor mechanics that most of the draft experts claimed him to be? open your eyes.

Exactly. That grin when he was talking about the Heisman was classic. Dont hate on Auburn or the SEC cause they figured out how to not get caught.:cam:
