Are we developing Cam?

Our 1st drive was beautiful. We moved the ball down the field perfectly until Olsen fumbled. After that our offense couldn't do nuttin. Tenn started to blitz on 1st down and once they did it successfully, they continued to do it. Our O line did a lousy job of picking it up the REST of the game. I did not see that extra effort on a consistant basis. We continue to make little mistakes throughout the game, my bad throughout our games. Linebacker being slightly out of position, dropped Int's, missed Sacks, missed tackles and l'm not even gonna start on our ST cause they can't be being coached. Are we developing Cam at the expense of the season. I don't believe that Chud can't mix plays up better to produce more points and/or to keep defenses honest. We've got plenty of talent on O. Cam, D. Will, Stew, Smitty, Olsen, Shockey, dang...and we only mustarded 3 points. This year is confusing me.

Throwing Cam in the deep end and not engaging in game manager hand holding can result in games like this.

I'd rather not have another Mark Sanchez/Matt Ryan/Sam Bradford when we could have a true top five quarterback.

totally agreed.

all rookie QBs are being developed to one extent or another.

the guys you listed are guys being developed to be game managers who will ultimately prove to be ineffective in an aggressive pass first league. they will have to rely on an elite defense to keep them in games.

meanwhile, cam is being developed like elite QBs are...to carry the game on their shoulders if necessary. the game managers are in systems that will limit the amount of mistakes they make and may make it easier to come by wons early, but guys like newton and peyton (and yes, i just put them in the same class) are put in situations that they can and will make plenty of mistakes, but in the long run they will benefit from the boldness and confidence in their abilities that comes from years like this.

then there's guys like clausen who are developed into paranoid QBs who don't get a jersey after their 1st season.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
