How many of you expected the opposite of how this year turned out?

Hurts to lose Beason and TD...they were the heart and soul of our defense. Yes, every team has injuries, but not injuries with that impact. Alot of what if's are gonna make up our season this year. Given the way our offense has played (minus Tennessee game) how many of these close games do you think we would have lost with those animals?

i think our defense has been spotty, but our defense coupled with special teams is pretty hard to win with sooooo i think we would have won the majority if they both played avg.

i was expecting the year to turn out the way it is. Its a rebuilding year. We did not hired any help on defence. Cam has done better than expected. We are 5-6 players away on defence for being 8-2 this year. (not count the IR ones). Now next year......different story!!! Playoffs is the expectation

i expected it to be sloppy. i expected to see flashes of great things to expect in the future.

i didn't expect a lot of wins.

yeah...i'm getting what i expected. i was more than impressed with the way cam and the offense has looked, even though i expected great things from newton.

the future looks bright.

i expected NO MORE than 5 wins this year while half this board expected the playoffs.

no way in hell we even make it to 5 wins now.

among others.

the thread you pointed out was on one of my more optimistic days, i suppose. i can have them. it's not against the rules. and it's not against the rules to change yoru mind from time to time about things and it doesn't make you full of bs either.

once the season got started i felt like we could win most of them and i thought the schedule wasn't as bad as it looked, but that was more hoping. what i expected in this season and what i expected in a rookie QBs season here was what i said.

go ahead and spend more time trying to prove that you're better than me or i'm full of BS or something else productive.

meanwhile, i'm going to go eat supper and hang out with the fam.

congrats in advance of finding other places i might be/am wrong. just so you know...it doens't bother me. i expect that as well. it's part of everyone's life.

This is about what I expected, but next year anyhting less than a playoff berth will be a dissapointment.
agreed, but we have to remember who else is in the division. we've got the saints that we have to topple.

i don't think that the bucs or even the falcons will really be problems, but the saints will be for a couple years the stiffest competition. if we are left vying for a wildcard spot, i think we'll be ok. the top compeition will probably be like it is this year, from the NFCN.

i do expect us to be in a position to get a playoff spot or at least be legit contenders for it. i'd be happy with just a winning season next year, but i'd consider 10 wins with or without a playoff spot a successful year and proof that we are headed in the right direction.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
