Denver waives Orton

Wonder how long it'll take for someone to snap him up.

Chicago, Houston, and Miami seem to be the names that come up off of my head. KC could be in play as well.

Since he's subject to waivers Miami would get first shot of the 4, then KC, not sure about priority between HOU and CHI since they're 7-3

No one should ever listen to anything else that Elway has to say... What a dumbass. They could've traded him for picks and instead hold onto him and then release him at a random date after the trade deadline for nothing? lol

Although I don't think Miami really wants/needs him now. Would make sense if he went to Chicago.

What are the rules regarding who is subject to waivers and who isn't?

This is from the Wiki page

Waivers is a National Football League labor management procedure by which a team makes an American football player contract or NFL rights (such as NFL draft rights to an unsigned player) available to all other teams. During the season (starting July 4 and lasting through the regular season), each team has 24 hours to file a claim for a player that another team has made available through the system or waive the right to do so. During the offseason each team has several days to file such claims. Claiming teams are assigned the rights to or contracts via a priority system based on inverse order of winning percentage. Players that pass through waivers unclaimed become free agents.[1][2] Waiver claims are irrevocable.[1]

According to the NFL collective bargaining agreement, if any waiver of a veteran player who has completed the season that gives him four years of service occurs between February 1 and the trading deadline in mid October, then that player shall be considered an unrestricted free agent by termination of his contract.[1][2]

NFL clubs are prohibited from contacting waived players until the player has been released by the club after passing waivers.[2]

At the conclusion of a season in which a veteran with four years of service is claimed via waivers, veterans with a no-trade clause in their contracts may declare himself a free agent. Any other veteran with four years of service can declare himself a free agent at the conclusion of the season subsequent to the season in which they were claimed on waivers if they remain under a claimed contract.[2]

A player who has been cleared waivers and become a free agent shall be immediately free to negotiate and sign a player contract with any NFL Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a player contract with such player. There will be no penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind, or any signing period.[2]

Since this happened after the trade deadline, Orton is subject to waivers.

    • The last time the offense saw the field we were up in points in a playoff game. The defense then allowed the most humiliatingly easy scoring drive in NFL history. So... the coaching staff needs the most help tbh.
    • https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp   19 is valued at 875. 16 @ 1000 Our higher 5th round pick is @ 28.2  It would take our 3rd to really do anything with. Maybe the 4th plus a 5th.
    • After talking to a bunch of you it seems the overwhelming majority of y'all would like to see our first round pick use them defense because we have went offense and receiver at that two of the last 3 years. But I posed a simple question what is the reason we lost to the Rams and after free agency and all the money we've been spending which side of the ball do you think is in need of more upgrades?  I don't think just because you drafted a specific position repeatedly doesn't mean you shouldn't draft that position again if it's still a weakness I think if you swing it back and you strike out and or miss you have to get up there and take another swing personally I think the offense is much worse off than the defense there's more Star power on defense than offense.  Legette was a legitimately amiss and a bus so we have to just watch the thought of him out of the way we are still without a certified number two and arguably Coker could be that but I'd rather he be a number 3 and we lack a field stretching speed option and a legitimate starting tight end we don't really know what we have at RB outside of tuba so I think the offense is bigger? Than the defense which was average last season.
