Justin Blackmon moving up my draft board...

never doubted he did some good things, never heard anything but good things about him, but I really can't bring myself to wanting to pick him at #2 or #3. If we're a bit below that then I can get on board with it I think (not that my opinion matters in the last anyway lol).

As bad as we need a DT, some LBs, some DBs, a T, and a G.. I just can't help but think a stud player with that kinda character would be tough to pass on...

Blackmon could instantly be the second best offensive player on the team considering RBs don't get much run in this offense. He's the total package at WR.

I think the Panthers have to draft Justin Blackmon if he is sitting there when we are on the clock on April. We have to get playmakers. Smith will be 33 and in the last year of his deal next season. If Carolina sits at position seven and Blackmon is still there I think you have to take him. Now if we're sitting at position three and Matt Barkley is on the board still I think we need to see if we can get a ton of picks to move down. Obviously too many factors have yet to be determined, but I would love to have that beast on the Panthers.

My mind has been leaning towards wanting Blackmon lately. It is just unavoidable. Even with all the holes on defense. He alone can take our offense to a whole other level. Our top 4 WR will put the fear of God into and opposing teams. Especially with 3 of them being very young studs. And well the other is a hall of famer. I would love that pick. Good guy as well.

I don't feel like we can win any games if we can't stop anybody. Our defense is losing us games.. I can't pull the trigger on Blackmon for that reason alone. Yes, it would be the sexy or flashy pick.. but it's not the smart pick imo.. especially considering LaFell's emergence and Gettis coming back from IR. If we had even an average defense, we would be playoff contenders.

I agree with you Lout but I also think we can't ignore holes on offense by reaching for defensive players if we are drafting high. We'll be getting guys back from IR next year and I think the FO is going to give them a bit of a chance to show they were worth their contracts (Edwards & Beason anyway...).

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
