Cam Newton get's axed from cover of NFL Magazine.

In other words, we weren't going to follow the example set forth before us by every other sports media news outlet by not being controversial, but realized we just didn't have the reporting ability to compensate for not doing so. If you'll remember, there was a fan vote that determined who should be on the cover between Newton and The Golden Calf of Bristol, and Cam won in a landslide. Doesn't look like the editors cared. I was gonna buy the issue when it hit shelves. Won't now.

Oh. And Bye.

So this NFL magazine is nothing more than an extention of the NFL Network. A Network filled with a bunch of shallow and empty ex-NFL players and top ranks, who believe their opinions matter more than the general public. I guess if The Golden Calf of Bristol loses on Sunday, they will change their minds and put another player on the cover before the magazine hits the stands. But I doubt it, because they know The Golden Calf of Bristol is god in his fans eyes and they will buy anything with him on the cover. Cha-ching.

All I've got to say is, Sports Illustrated need not be threatened. Their position as the leading sports magazine is safe.

Is he more relevant nationally right now? Objectively speaking, no question.

But so what? I don't think he'll be more relevant long term.

Actually, he isn't that relevant outside of the NFL. If u ask the average football watcher who's The Golden Calf of Bristol, they may give u a vague response. I honestly believe he was more mainstream relevant in 2010 when he was in the draft.

That's your opinion (and mine too), but this magazine is unlikely trying to sell this issue in 2 years time, but right now.

It makes perfect sense to go with The Golden Calf of Bristol, and honestly, I don't care. I'm not a big national publicity kinda guy and I think that will come once we start winning. In the mean time I'm content watching Cam play on Sundays.

Honestly if u ask me, a perfect introduction cover to this new magazine, if it was serious and well thought out debut, would have been a cover featuring the success of the 2011 rookie draft class. Having the pictures of all the rookies who have shown such success after not having the necessary off-season work-outs and and meetings, IMO, speaks way more volume as a introduction to a legit NFL magazine than some picture of a flavor of the month QB.

Take nothing away from Tim but the obsession over him is starting to borderline strange curiousity rather than genuine respect as a QB. The college fanaticism over him have crossed over from that world into the NFL in a really strange way. Yes, his team may be winning but so are the Greenbay Packers and they aren't getting the front cover.

I'm not sure the agenda of those behind this magazine but if the continued pushing of the "The Golden Calf of Bristol freak" show seems way more important to them than the stories that have emerged despite the NFL lock-out, I'd say their priorities are a bit wacked.

praying for god to make the kicker miss a field goal against you = completely stupid when you're actually serious. it doesnt work that way.

thanking god for your success after a win is fine. if you believe in god its a natural reaction.

god, however, does not micromanage football games, and thats what i think pisses people off about The Golden Calf of Bristol. they can't take it seriously.

should not need a reason to post this..

Too bad he's a self-proclaimed virgin.

I don't dislike The Golden Calf of Bristol as a person, but "Timbo the Quarterback" is just absolutely hilarious. I can't wait until this guy becomes a glorified HB or TE. Right now, he is the best way to determine a knowledgeable football fan from the raving loonies.

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
