We'll have a much better idea of who we'll be drafting after we play our last game. Its hard to predict right now where we will end up because we've recently been stringing wins together. If we win out (unlikely, but possible) we wont have a chance at a lot of the prospects we're currently being mocked for.

Yes, I think we miss out on Claiborne.. unfortunately. He was my top pick for us. With Kalil not entering the draft, that makes it more unlikely.

1. Colts - Luck

2. Vikes - Riley Rieff/Blackmon

3. Rams - Blackmon/Rieff

4. Jags - Claiborne

There is your top 4.

There's also Jonathon Martin. He's an incredible talent, and very high on a lot of people's Draft boards. I would see the Rams taking an offensive lineman, especially since Sam Bradford was hit all season long.

Even if Rieff and Martin go #2 and #3 respectively, Blackmon will go the Jags at #4, then Claiborne will get snagged by the Bucs before us.. we need to lose to the Bucs in order for us to have a shot at Claiborne. I don't think the Bucs will beat us at home.. do you?

True, but the Jags situation could be the interesting one. PFT did an article a few days ago talking about how the new coach in Jacksonville might not be committed to Gabbert, especially if a better option presents itself.

If Barkley declares, there's him, as well as RG3.

I think it would be dumb to go to another QB so fast after drafting Gabbert, but, new owner, new coach, eh. We'll see.

It has happened once before (drafting a QB in the 1st round two years in a row). It is possible considering the new coaching staff, and Gabbert has not been light out.. and doesn't seem to be improving too quickly. I hope Barkley declares along with Kalil because that will help a ton in dropping Claiborne.. but still, if we beat the Bucs again, it will be a moot point because they will assurededly take Claiborne.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
