free agent kickers

Look at how many teams have signed kickers mid-season that they ended up keeping... it happens a lot.

Gano turned out pretty well and he was mid-season pickup for the skins a couple seasons ago. And he can actually kick for distance.

We even picked up and released Graham and Akers while Kasay was still here... both turned out pretty good elsewhere.

I would just cut mare and give adi the reins until end of season and then draft a damn kicker worth a poo.

Dear Lord, no drafting kickers, please.

We have enough needs on defense and players who can cover on special teams before we worry about kickers and punters in the draft.

I distinctly remember Graham being as inconsistent as Mare that year filling in for Kasay :hat: good times

Getting rid of Mare now serves one point to me... show the players that the coaching staff takes performance seriously. Plus giving someone else a shot at some real game reps.

This. Even if the guy brought in isn't as good, it serves a purpose and we know to move forward. The guy has one job and he sucks at it, he should be made an example of.

I don't remember him being that inconsistent. I remember thinking he didn't have a very strong leg but was fairly accurate, but he wasn't Kasay either.

Regardless, I've never seen a starting this kicker this bad and unreliable.

    • You're saying the same thing as I said.  Until Jordan becomes an active part of recruiting and funding, this school will continue to fall way behind.  But to say Michael Jordan or the Jordan brand doesn't matter anymore, which is what you said, is flat out wrong.
    • I have not learnt my lesson and will always want Uber athletic profiles. Sorry, Im a whore about it.... Im not the right guy to defend Kenyon, I just have a understanding with this years draft, numbers, and panthers roster. He is more of "upside/project" and we are talking 19th pick here too.  I know about the years of all the mock drafts with TEs in them and I did want Pitts too.... Look I love the current TEs on the roster too, just this guy should be better than any of them at their best.  Right now I feel OT is the correct target, but panthers as a org are trying to win in 2026 than 2027. So tea leaves and all, Kenyon would help this year. You can even say flex him to slot for most of the snaps and think of tmac on smoke routes with Kenyon blocking for him. I just hate BY is the shooter..... warren, I would say he's the better prospect even without his rookie year, *but he was late bloomer like XL if Im right, plus age was 25ish?? Bears picked love above him, mainly cause of recs.  You can make a case that Kenyon is not a TE, but a moving weapon for offense that can be in the backfield, on the LOS, slot, and even X.... imean he's got XLs combine on some numbers.... He would be better to a offense mad scientist type...is that Dave? or is that bevell?? I think the Panthers should have him as a 19 pick, with others...
    • That's one of the best power play games I've seen us have in a while.
