My Plan for the Draft

I don't really like my brother so the chemistry thing isn't that relevant, they might even get into more arguments who knows, his name shouldn't affect if we draft him or not

lol I don't think the fact that YOU don't like YOUR brother makes bloodline ties on the Panthers O-line irrelevant...

I wouldn't be surprised if we finished 2-1 to close the year. I think we match up well against the Texans with all their injuries, and the Bucs are in a tailspin. Also, depending on what they are playing for, the Saints very well might rest their starters. I see us drafting no higher than 5th, which removes Kalil from the arguement. A lot can change between now and April, but I'd imagine we'd have to look at CB, WR, OT, or LB in the 1st. Unless we have the chance to trade down, I almost fully believe we'll take BPA at this point. That means Blackmon, Claiborne, Kalil, and Coples are fair game in my opinion.

Lol im just trying to say that just because there brothers doesn't mean there gonna read each others minds and cam will never get sacked. The brother thing shouldn't mean anything

I don't recall anyone ever suggesting any such thing. And whether you want to admit it or not, the brother connection does mean something. If there happens to be bad blood between them I'm sure that will be made known to decision makers and it will be taken into consideration.

We don't match up with the Texans run game very well and they do boast the #1 D right now. I think we beat Tampa at home and finish 5-11.

Earlier this season I would fully agree with you, but our D against the run has looked way better with the combo of Shirley, Neblett and Kearse, along with Senn's play at OLB. Houston is actually my second favorite team to watch, and their defense is nothing to be joked about. Their front seven boast a lot of talent, including rookies Brooks Reed and JJ Watt. Conor Barwin has come on very strong after losing Mario Williams, and their secondary finally plays at an NFL level with Jackson and Joseph. You also can't forget about Cushing and Ryans either, both of whom are solid MLB's. Houston very well might have the best set of pass rushers we've seen since Indy with Mathis and Freeny, but with all that said, I like our chances. I actually believe we will make things tough for Foster running the ball, forcing Houston to use him in screens and protections. Foster is still very solid in those situations, but without having Andre Johnson or Matt Schaub on the field, we don't have to worry quite as much about the deep pass. Don't overcommit to the pass rush and ALWAYS keep a spy on Foster. The Texans will have to find Owen Daniels to have success, he seems to be Yates go to guy when he's in trouble. With all this being said, I think we sqeak out a victory over the Texans. If nothing else, it's a gut feeling.

I think this Sunday will seem familiar to Panther fans. Panthers compete early but the defense wears down in second half and running game of Texans take over.

As for the Bucs, Panthers should win easily unless Freeman plays. He seems to give his team a lift, not just from the QB play.

5-11 is probably about right.

I fear you're right on the first point, but anything's possible. On the second point, I'm not sure even Freeman is enough for them. They're just dysfunctional this year. I even read (on PFT, mind you) they considered firing Raheem Morris after the last game but decided to let him ride out the year.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
