Why would Dwill and CJ restructure? The team has absolutely no leverage to force them into a voluntary pay reduction. No agent in the world is going to accept that. If they were such "nice guys" that they would take less pay to allow the team to sign other guys then they would have just agreed to a lesser contract to begin with.

DeAngelo and CJ will restructure in order to bring in the necesary talent that is needed to give them both what they want, which is a Super Bowl victory.

They're agents won't have much say, when their employers say... Make this work (or in essense, you're fired)

What NFL player would willingly take less then what is offered? That would be the equivalent to your boss giving you a raise tomorrow and you declining it.

Overall, like I stated previously, I think Marty did a fantastic job with these contracts. No one will take on these contracts, so a trade would be out if the question (unless of course they re-structured) their deals anyways. ^He gave them both WAAY more than they each deserved initially, so that later ^He can re-structure their deals to bring in more talent.

You're free to disagree with my theory all you'd like, but I can guarentee you that they both will end up re-structuring.

Do you think that multi-millionaires care about $$ that much? No, they have money now, what they don't have are Super Bowl rings. When Marty dangles that in their faces, I feel that they will both re-structure.

Is that not clear enough? Does nobody else see this happening?

Excluding big FA aquisitions, sooner or later we're going to need to re-sign both Smitty and J-Stew... Do you think that $$ will appear out of thin air?

No it will come from re-structuring mega deals that we've made in the past, with the hopes that this franchise, this QB, and this coaching staff can get them where they want to go.

many of you think deangelo has fallen off but this is simply FAR from the truth if you take a moment to look at stats you'll see what im talking about.

2008

Carries: 273

Yards: 1515

td:18

Yards per attempt: 5.5

2011

Carries: 126

yards: 656

td: 4

yards per attempt: 5.2

The most important stat for a running back is yards per attempt next is rushing yards. If you add 147 more carries to his 126 equaling the amount he had in 2008 deangelo would have around 1400 yards on the ground at the end of the year. If this was still foxball deangelo would be in the running for the rushing title and a lock for the probowl.

isn't this premature?

shouldn't this be done when the season is over?

you realize you contradict yourself numerous times in this post?

also, how many times in over 10 years working with the organization has Hurney managed to convince a player to take a straight pay reduction restructure?

Too bad it doesn't work that way.

Don't get me wrong, Williams is still a solid back. But he's not as good as he was in '08.

Hurney has never had a franchise QB as a bargaining chip
