Keep or Sell?

My 2000 Honda Accord LX is a great car. It gets awesome gas mileage, is somewhat fun to drive thanks to the stickshift, and is pretty peppy for a 4-cylinder. Still going strong at 151k miles. However, the paint on the top and the trunk lid is badly oxidizing, and it's becoming embarrassing to look at. The car is a forest green color, so the oxidation really sticks out. Is it worth repainting the whole top section and trunk lid (which takes a lot of time and $$), or should I take my losses and sell it?

What losses? It's a 2000 and I'm sure it's long since paid for, so there are no losses...

...except you will have to buy another car, which could mean payments, which means debt... which means losses.

Seriously, there are Maaco's and whatever else out there that will do a paint job for $400-500 or so. Or, there's always the DIY paint job:

Th e question is do you have children that will be driving soon, or nieces or nephews? If you have children of your own, paint it and keep it until they are ready to drive, then give it to them. If you have nieces or nephews, don't paint it , and sell it to them really cheap for a down payment on a newer car.

Just a couple of suggestions. Or you could go with Anybody Home's idea and paint it like this:

    • Sorry but that's a terrible comparison lol Smith was a 1st team all pro returner as a rookie and finished 4th in the NFL in all purpose yardage, and barely got any snaps at WR. Then in his 2nd year he had 872 yards (with another 1k+ return yards), while XL has a total of 860 in his 2 seasons after being 1st round pick. So he only took until his 2nd year to show something as a WR after not being used as WR as a rookie, but still having a true elite rookie season in other ways.
    • I said it a couple days ago. That four goal come back in the third made Vegas look like they’re almost out of gas. Last game proved it. The canes will win tonight they have to.  Carter Hart looks completely used. I’d give up just about anything see the hurricanes win this one 8 to 1. Also with Karrlson being out for Vegas that’s a huge loss. That guy was the engine that made that team go along with Mitch. Mitch playing center is not ideal for that team.   for us, I saw something come alive last game.  If we get that same performance from Aho and Svech it’s night night. In bussi we trussi… the beginning of an era is the bus. Staal or stank with a Hattie tonight to secure the cons Smyth would be epic.
    • The only thing that matters is what motivates Legette. If he hasn't reworked his priorities from top to bottom and rewired himself this offseason with all the money that's potentially on the table for himself and his family in the upcoming years then I hope he's ready to go sell certified pre-owned vehicles somewhere.
