Lackluster day for Steve Smith

Only 1 catch for 9 yards but I'm glad to see the team running the ball more. Smith had a nice run and a key block that helped LaFell LaWin.

Lackluster in stats maybe but he took attention away from other receivers and that block had to be one of my favorite plays of this game (in more ways that one).

Yep, that's a good thing. I've longed for the day of weaning ourselves off of relying on Smith. I'm glad he's still here as he hasn't lost a step, but we also have LaFell, an improving Naanee, and Gettis back next year. The future looks bright.

Today was definitely a rushing day...270 on the ground, Cam only threw for 171 and 91 of those went to Lafell on one play. So there weren't a lot of passing yards to go around. And like everyone else mentioned, its not a bad thing that he didn't catch many balls.

he didn't have very many chances to. a lot of our drives were off of bucs turnovers, and a tremendous chunk of our yardage came from runs and then lafell's huge play.

he did his job. i expect him to go off against the saints though.

There was a time when you were considered a traitor for suggesting we needed to have a running game. This offense is beautiful when it's all clicking and it wins games.

i dont care, and I bet Steve doesnt either as long as we win. If teams think all they have to do is take out steve smith to win and forget that we have a monster game this is what happens.

Also it helps when you are playing the horriffic bucs.

God even the Colts are a better team.

He got in on some reverses, and had a key block on the TD...I'm sure Smitty doens't care...as long as he gets to hit somebody!

What this shows is the offense is learning to get it done every which way. Shut you down one way, turn to another, Shut you down another, turn to yet another. That's showing an offense that is growing and gelling. Can't ask for anything more.
