Is Pilares our best option as kick returner?

Keyshawn Martin from Michigan State. KR/PR/WR. He has elusivability, quickness, speed, and is tough as a Marine. He runs great routes, and never drops a pass. He could be Smitty junior, only a little bigger and faster.

Hey, everybody else is throwing out names. And Martin may be as good as I think he is.

Smitty junior? Isn't that what people were just saying about Pilares a few months ago? :P

We need an entirely new kicking game...

Mare - Not reliable in clutch situations

Baker - Ranked 33rd in punting average

Edwards - Seriously Hurney? You should be fired just for that trade alone

Pilares - Has shown flashes but IMO still not the answer

Brian Murphy - His blocking schemes don't open up holes...what else does a ST coach really need to worry about??

So in a nutshell the STs as a whole need to be cleaned out.

I was looking at that Keyshawn Martin guy. Maybe not a bad pick if we can get him in the 5th where one site projected him.

Also for those who said Pilares isnt that fast, he did run a 4.40 and is said to been recorded less than that. So lets not say he is slow anymore. I know he hasn't score but one touchdown but honestly thats pretty good for any kick returner and as I stated he is in the TOP TEN what more do you want from a return guy?

Wasn't the Cinci guy, who returned KR for a TD and is having a nice nice year, cut and claimed by them in preseason when we had first dibs. There are diamonds in the rough, we just need to find them.

Knowing our history on ST we will never do that.

    • I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...  Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it
    • This reminds me on Madden where you create an alternate uniform and the pre-recorded voice overs talk about how hideous your uniform looks. 🤣
    • There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game. The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way. I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot. The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.
