Unleash the Kraken, the hounds, and anything else we have available. Throw caution to the wind and ratchet up the pressure on Brees, get hits on him and put on the ground, even if we get burned, raise the stakes.

Blitz like a mofo. Roman Harper tells us that you can hit someone a couple of seconds late.

Hell, let Smitty play LB so he can blitz a little.

right, because like CRA just pointed out to you, there isn't an either/or.. The exact person asking him to run a fire blitz is the same dumbass who is going to chew him out the next day.

I love Armchair DCs.... tell him to do the impossible, and regardless of the outcome, be a major annoyance to the rest of the fanbase who has a clue...

Who told him to do the impossible? What fan doesn't complain when things don't go well? Who accepted your judgement on which segment of the fan base has a clue? The exact type of person who would make your comments is the same type of person who is a dumbass.

the fact that you want an all out blitz that'll easily get torn to pieces by one of the top 3 QBs in the league as you then confirm my allegations that you'll be the dumbass complaining the next day..

brilliant piece of work right there..

I don't want to all out blitz on every play, but I do want to blitz more than we did the first time around. It's not a black and white situation, but I think we need to generate a lot more pressure on Brees with more blitzing. I have a feeling we're going to get picked apart whether we blitz or not.

point being made is if our blitzes do not have the personnel to hit the QB, it's really ineffective to "Throw caution to the wind and ratchet up the pressure on Brees" since our LBers have no ability to rush the passer... unless of course we send an all out blitz, leaving most of the field wide open..

this discussion is as black/white as it gets because we aren't McDermott, an NFL caliber Defensive Coordinator who will run the defense as he sees fit.

They certainly have some ability to rush the passer, or they wouldn't be in the NFL. McDermott knows best for our defense in comparison to any fan, that part is black and white.

well, it's obvious you fail to understand what it takes to shed blockers while overvaluing our backup LBers who are currently starting.. and in your failed attempt to twist my words, yet again disprove your point..

waits for pantherj to twist my words with some sort of baseless come back..

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
