Breaking News Polians Fired in Indy

Recommended Posts

Yeah, you guys are so right..Polians didn't build a great defense, draft Marvin Harrison, draft Marshall Faulk, draft Edgerrin James, draft a group of offensive lineman that stayed in Indy for a while, pick Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf, and build around a franchise quarterback for over a decade that ended in 10 postseason appearances and a Super Bowl.

No, it had nothing to do with Bill Polians (you know, the guy that got Carolina to an NFC Championship in 2 years). It was all Peyton.

Polians didn't deserve to be fired at all. He had a philosophy that worked for a long time and it's very hard for a team like Indy to make big splashes in the draft every year when they haven't had a first round pick above 20 since before the damn millennium.

Don't dog on him and act like he's done nothing.

I posted this in the Panthers forum for two reasons: 1) Polian is a former Panther and 2) I felt this was big enough news to be in this forum especially considering it is officially the Panthers offseason.

If Zod or one of the mods want to move or delete it that's fine but I wanted to allow some who don't generally visit the other forums to get the news.

I think it was good that you posted it. I'm a huge NFL person and I just don't watch one team play. I found out about the news about an hour and a half ago via Twitter.:D

I could see Chud as their next coach

oh dear i hope not. i personally would love to see them hire Jim Tressel as their next head coach, but i am questioning the firing of Polian, i know people will say yeah, the Colts roster stunk, but they had a clear QB issue in my book. the WRs arent awful, are they great, no, but if the colts would've had a good backup, i think they play tougher and dont get the top pick. i hope the Polians end up in Miami.

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
