Brent Grimes. He would instantly fill a need, while also hampering the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta doesn't have a very good pass defense right now, and taking Grimes away from that, and only leaving Dunta Robinson, would really put a hurting on their secondary.

Grimes is a good CB in a pass happy league. He's going to get paaaaaaid. We don't have that type of money.

I absolutely agree. Brent Grimes is one of the top 12-15 CBs in the league, and is also the best CB on a division rival's team. (I believe Robinson is overrated.)

That's why we need to go after him. If Hurney really is a salary cap wizard like we've all been hearing for these past few years, then he needs to work that magic, and somehow come up with the money that would please Grimes enough to come to Carolina.

i do think we'd be better off drafting a CB early in the draft than picking up one in FA. waaaaaayyyy to expensive in FA. much like finding a OT, DE, or QB.

CB is one of the safest picks you can make in the first round. just makes sense to go that route.

i won't cry and complain if we get grimes, though. if they can work it out, more power to them.

There are cheaper options at CB in the draft. (to me) I cannot even begin to speculate the draft when FA period is upon us. I expect us to sign one marquee name (top 15-20) then role players....I mean who wouldn't want to get on board with us. This team is on the upswing.

We dont need to spend money on the offensive line, not in my opinion at least.

I dont care if Gross is getting older, he is still pro bowl level. Look how old Chad Clifton is on a Super Bowl team.

We will be getting Geoff Schwartz, Garry Williams and Jeff Otah back from injury and Byron Bell and Lee Ziemba both have a year under their belts now, with Bell starting most of the year. Bring back Hangartner and we should be pretty deep at OL.

Kalil

Gross

Wharton

Otah

Hangartner

Bell

Schwartz

Williams

Bernadeau

Ziemba

plus im probably leaving someone out.

I wouldnt draft an OL early either, maybe wait and try and get a steal late in the draft or bring in some top OL undrafted FA, it work this year for us.

hopefully this is the last time we are picking in the Top 10.. if we can grab a LT and move Gross to RT, we lock up 2 positions for the next 5-6 years easy (however long before Gross retires)..

otherwise, I would agree...

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
