Impending free agent SS LaRon Landry is expected to have to settle for a short-term, "prove-it" deal on the open market.

Landry is recovering from Achilles' surgery and also landed on injured reserve in mid-December with a groin ailment. At age 27, he's a dominant strong safety when healthy but rarely has been 100 percent over the past two seasons. The Skins seem unlikely to consider slapping Landry with the franchise tag. We dont need what the Chargers got with Bob Sanders this year though, I think he made it through about half a game before he hit IR once again.

We're probably not going to do much in free agency, so we dont need to waist it on Landry. Godfrey is fine at the SS spot

he's played FS before

and while he's not as good there than he is at SS he's still probably 8x better than Sherrod on his worst day

I would have no problems moving Godfrey back over to free for Landry.

Would be a pretty dynamic Safety group then.
