Jake Delhomme May Retire

Houston Texans quarterback Jake Delhomme isn't ready to say he's officially retiring, but the 14-year veteran said his playing career is likely over after Sunday's season-ending 20-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

On NFL Network

"NFL Replay" will re-air the Ravens' 20-13 win over the Texans and the Patriots' 45-10 win over the Broncos on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at midnight ET.

“I’m being very realistic,” Delhomme told the Houston Chronicle. “I turned 37 last week. I’m not moving my family. I’m (not) going somewhere to start over. This kind of fell into my lap, so to speak."

We owe it to him to retire as a Panther if he wants and retire his #17. His contributions go far beyond just his accomplishments on the field.

Classiest dude ever.

Definately he will sign w/ us to retire. GREAT dude.

but his number shouldn't be retired.......he is the greatest QB to of played here but that also shows how young our franchise is and the fact we haven't done poo.

I hope he retires a Panther.

Dude was all class (and hissy fits)

Let Cam have a hissy fit, and it's "He's gotta work on his attitude" "Terrible attitude" "He isn't a team player" "He isn't a leader" some fans seriously have a double standard. But noooooo Delhomme's fits made him 'fiery'.

Cam did have a hissy fit, though a more understated one than Delhomme's tended to be, in the Texans game.

Nobody complained that I can recall.

    • Ha ha. Are you saying that in response to the whole team, or just the Panthers? LOL  I was ninth, so I was stuck between C-Mac and someone lesser, and I really should've picked a receiver when I picked Chuba. But, YOLO. If CMC gets hurt, I hope that this San Fran writer was correct in his assertion that Guerendo is simply the better, more explosive backup. I know they signed Brian Robinson, but I think he's JAG more than anything else. Guerendo has a bit of an injury history himself, but he is 220 with legit 4.3 speed. I must admit that I took my chances with the receivers. I actually traded Chubb and Mixon for T-Mac. I'm hoping that Ollie Gordon learns the top spot in Miami and that Dont'e Thornton becomes the top dawg in Vegas. If that happens, I'll be great. Between Pearsall, Thornton, Golden, Coleman and X, someone has to break out. I also have Christian Watson in an IR slot (though I want to put something together to acquire Rashee Rice).
    • Thanks for sharing. This is fascinating stuff. I know some of us were hesitant with him due to his limited play within structure in college and the need to constantly relying on hero ball. But his lack of ownership and lack of work ethic is staggering.
    • We had 3 chances to hire harbaugh and 2 different owners passed.   We deserve every bit of misery that comes our way.  We always zig left when we should zig right.  We have had owners that thought they could outsmart the system
