Jake Delhomme May Retire

Davis was more instrumental to getting us to the Super Bowl than Delhomme was.

Not true.

Again, Delhomme had more 4th comeback wins than any QB in NFL history in a single season. We were a running team.....but the run simply kept us in games for Jake to make the big plays late. Many QBs have been put in those situations......none have done it as well as Delhomme in 2003.

yeah, Davis was a big part of the run. Davis' career in Carolina is nothing compared to Delhomme's. Davis also was pretty much a one year wonder. he had a nice stat line the next year but was pretty much a one trick pony who could run it in 1 yard out. He wasn't the same RB.

Davis' value to us after 2003 was pretty much as a short yardage/goal line sledgehammer. He had an amazing nose for the end zone in 2005 and was leading either the NFC or NFL in rushing touchdowns for a while.

He only had one complete season for us and I don't think he really compares to Jake in terms of value to the franchise. Jake Delhomme's first three seasons for us were all very good and even after that he was good for some unforgettable moments here and there.

Jake is our best quarterback ever. What accomplishments did he have- probowl 1995. Most comeback wins in franchise history. 5-4 postseason playoff record. No superbowls but he outplayed Brady that day.

He should retire a Panther. I don't like retiring numbers but I would put him and Kasay on the stadium ring of honor. After all Mills got there after playing only 2 years for us. Sure he was a great inspiration as a coach and all that, but as far as a player he was only here a brief time.

I remember before the Cardinals debacle, Jake's post season QB rating was only behind Bart Starr's. Then, IT happened and ruined that little nugget of trivia.

Actually wasnt it the Seattle game? Where he posted a QB rating of 30 somthing......

Yea lets retire his jersey, greatest QB ever!

The Golden Calf of Bristol had 5 or 6 comebacks this year, does that make him great? No it makes him a product of Foxball. Bend but dont break, and keep it within a field goal.

Jake didnt do anything special.

The Golden Calf of Bristol wasn't a product of Foxball. Fox's record was.

What happened when The Golden Calf of Bristol ran into Tom Brady? He got worked. What happened to Jake? He went blow for blow on the biggest stage of professional sports. Jake QB play that postseason was special.

LOL Since when do average qb's with one pro bowl get enshrined and have statues made? This huddle fanbase has the lowest expectations I've ever seen.

all most logical fans are saying, is the dude should retire a Panther......nothing more.

lol at you. We didnt score in the 1st or 3rd quarter of the superbowl. Neither did the Patriots. 13-10 was the halftime score. It was a defensive battle in the first half. The Golden Calf of Bristol wasnt put in a position to go blow for blow with Brady. If Brady would have threw for 5 td's in the first half against us it would have been the same result.

No doubt Jake had a good postseason on the way to the SB, but still Cam is the best QB to ever put on a panther Jersey.

Jake, greatest panther qb ever? Wow we love mediocrity. The dude was terrible, and was blessed with a good defense, a running game, and a smitty in his prime.

Cam is the best qb to ever put on a panther jersey. 1 season, 3 seasons, or 10 it doesn't matter. The single biggest turnaround for an offense in NFL history, and he set record after record. Saying Jake was good is like saying The Golden Calf of Bristol is good.

You mad bro?

In 2004 arguably Jakes best season, He had No Smitty, a mediocre running game once Foster got injured, and a middle of the pack defense. and had N.O. not beat the Panthers in the last game, or a questionable 4th and 12 dive by Vick. He would have led the Panthers to the Playoffs.......just sayin:D

Even if Cam were to play terrible next season, and play like a bust?

Jake is the greatest Panther QB, as of right now.

Will Cam surpass him? Probably, eventually, but as of right now, Jake IS the greatest.

You can say "wow, we love mediocrity", but whether you feel Jake was mediocre or not, he is the greatest in Panther history.
