i would think we would use him as a joker LB pass rush specialist. i agree for the most part, though.

truthfully, if we were going to draft someone for the joker (which i am in favor of), i'd rather wait until the 2nd round (or 3rd if we can somehow manage to snag a pick there) and pick up bruce irvin. that kid is going to be a dynamo as long as he's given the freedom to pick and choose his spots and doesn't have to put his hand in the dirt.

Yeah but at 8/9 why draft someone who doesn't fit our system and if he only will be a joker. If we are going to draft a 3-4 OLB at least draft someone like Ingram who is versatile enough to play multiple positions. I guess Upshaw could play DE but not good enough for the 8th pick.

lol. He's white so he must be Dan Connor. :jc:

Looks like a good prospect and will do great, as a MLB, somewhere.

Connor looked like he do great as well. He played against tougher competition and came from Linebacker U where Jack Ham, Lavar Arrington, and Paul Posluszny played and he left as the university's top tackler.

ugh. i don't care about color. quit being a pinhead.

dude's not particularly bigger, stronger, or faster than other guys at the position. he's a tackling machine. solid in the middle of the field. does all things well, but nothing spectacularly. got a good nose for the ball and for the action. good football IQ and instincts. respected as a leader.

both sounds like a back up for beason.

yeah, i wouldn't be particularly thrilled with it. i'd just be ok with it.

He plays smart and makes quick decisions. No matter how bad you want to discredit him, 191 tackles is a LOT. And it's not like it was a fluke. 183 in 2010 and 158 in 2009. He's quite simply a playmaker and a force on defense.

Exactly, the same can be said about Connor who went to LB-U. Stats are overrated.

who's discrediting him?

i'm just saying he's basically a better version of connor. that he's a tackling machine? that he's a solid and smart player...just nothing spectacular. he's good enough to be beason's back up but he is also good enough to be a starting Mike on over half of the 4-3 teams out there.

other than being a sure tackler, there is nothing really that jumps out at me as being elite. i see him as a mid-late first round pick. at the worst a sure early 2nd rounder. in a mock i did i have him going to the eagles. if not there then the giants.
