games that air on NFLN on Thurs.....are aired for the local market on standard channels. Always have been unless they are changing something.

I guess we are not in the "local area". Greensboro area channels do not air NFLN or ESPN games. You MUST have NFLN (Direct TV) and ESPN (All Cable) to see those. For "Free" networks, (Sunday, and Playoff games) we ARE in the Panthers viewing area. Sucks, but true.

Nope. Not MY local channels.

yes. you just said YOUR local channels offer the Panther games every Sunday.

that means if Carolina plays on NFLN, YOUR local channels will air that one NFLN game. They won't air all NFLN games but if Carolina plays they will air that one for you.

If you don't get the NFLN game aired for you....that means your local channels aren't playing the Panthers every week on Sunday at 1 and 4 for you.

FOX WGHP, High Point Plays all FOX Panther Sunday games. CBS WFMY Plays ALL Preseason and CBS Panther Sunday. No NFLN or ESPN games are aired on these channels. I know it aint right. It sucks but this is true. Been that way forever. As hardees says, and that's just the way it is.

listen.

You will not get any ESPN games no matter who plays.

You will not get any NFLN games EXCEPT!!!when Carolina plays on Thursday night.....FOX or CBS will then air that same game. NFLN will air it on a channel you don't get......but FOX or CBS will ALSO air the game for you to watch. They will only do that if Carolina is playing.

The "local market" does not reach summerfield. I guess I could use the money I spend on my season tickets to pay a Direct TV bill. I could get the best package they have and still have money left over. Shoot, if you add in the gas, food, hotels and stadium beer money, I could take a small vacation as well.

JP Looneys in Oak Ridge will show the game and it's like two minutes away. Probably more fun than watching it at home anyway

What are you talking about? No different than any other show that comes on locally Tuesday/Thursday nights. I'm not paying a dime extra.

Well if you have accepted Thursday night, what about every other night of the week? Screw the players and the shortened weeks, in my madden game the all you have to do is turn off fatigue and injuries. This is America where we get what we want all the time. I NEED my NFL on Thursdays now. <----that doesn't sound like you have been duped?

Maybe I'm a purist, maybe I don't like corporations exploiting their market for something that used to be offered to everyone on basic cable, save for Monday Night Football (which used to be on NBC).

BTW I'm not referring solely to Panthers games.

TL;DR You are allowing the NFL to tie your hands, by only showing more games on an exclusive network. If they get away with this, what is the next step?

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
