John Abraham = Al Wallace can we make it happen?

He's 33 and Falcons aren't trying to bring him back.

Steve Wyche reports Abraham’s agent said he has been given indications by the team that Abraham will be allowed to test free agency. If an agent says that it probably means he’s been told there’s no chance of his client re-signing. The Falcons are usually pretty straight shooters when it comes to these matters, so it’s likely Abraham’s been told he won’t be back.

With all the FA wr threads popping up around here. This guy could really help us for 2 or 3 seasons and play a Al wallce role for us.

Not to mention he's from SC and has a home there.

Could we free up enough Cap to sign him?

He made 8 million salary in 2011 and counted 10 million against the cap. What do you think it would take to land him this year?? I suspect that a 3 year deal would have to be in the 15 million range to land him. he is like Jason Williams was a few years ago, not in his prime but not washed up yet either.

I doubt we try and sign him. He doesn't fit in with our general youth movement.

I wouldn't go more then 4 mil. He is 33 and not the most durable.

No, waste of cap. Need to re-sign a few players and get decent depth at other positions. I doubt you will see more than one major free agent acquisition from outside the organization. I bet someone unexpected has a breakout season for us. One of our no-name players, I mean. Hopefully someone on defense, hopefully a DT. But you never know.

Re-sign what players again?

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
