Brockers vs Poe

Umm, an Achilles tear is worse. I mean way worse then an ACL tear. It's probably the worst injury a football player can get. It's the key muscle used when exploding into hits and out of stance. Most players that come back from it, aren't as fast or explosive.

Also Kuechly ran that 4ty after he added muscle to his frame (he's heavier then he ever was at BC, he also had a pretty good BP as well with 27 reps (9 more then Brockers).

It's a major need, unless Beason comes back as himself (questionable, seriously questionable) Thomas Davis comes back as himself with two wheels that aren't falling off (doubtful, it be a miracle.) Then the Panther's have 1 starting caliber linebacker on the team.

so we're just gonna throw beason away after giving him a huge contract ? right? and repping doesnt means anything. i know several buddy who doesnt play fb for a life. and repp 30+ more than kuechly and brockers

I was just reading how Ryan Howard in baseball just had a second procedure on his achilles because it was infected. They mentioned that one of the biggest issues was that the skin over the tendon doesn't heal very well because apparently there is little blood flow to it. And if I remember correctly that was the exact problem that Kemo had in his recovery and why we released him. I surely hope Beason comes back and is every bit as good as he was before the injury but as you noted, it is much worse than an ACL. Heck I came from back ACL reconstruction although it wasn't as if I was a pro athlete or anything.

Not once did I say throw Beason away, but it's still very questionable that he can come back the same. Right now LB core on the Panther's is one of it's weakest spots on the team, there's seriously 1 healthy starting caliber player on the team. DT's take a while to develop and a LB as good as Kuechly can come in a start right away and make a major impact in a division full of TE's. "Covering TE's is something that Kuechly proved he can do while he was at BC."

Any of them run a 4.59 in the 40 and win the Butkus award in college??? If so tell them to talk to the Panthers about walking on this year............

If Beason isn't ready this year he will go on IR and we will wait until next year. It happens. But that still doesn't fix the huge hole it creates.

Yep, a whole lot of issues with an Achilles tear compared to an ACL tear. You've got issues with bloodflow, skin infection (more serious in the Achilles area then say on your knee) the muscle growing back correctly and being as strong as it was(very rare, especially in high caliber athletes.)

did i say they could make it in the pro. i said cleary the dont play fb.

i used that in my case to say that just because you're strong doesnt mean you can be great in the nfl. you needs all the technique and skills in the world to get off blockers and make the tackles. at Boston "their d was set for kuechly to have free lanes all the times to go make tackles).

Remember when we got Beason after we gave that contract to Dan Morgan...

Why isn't possible we would do the same thing?

I know Morgan had an injury history, but this one injury to Beason is just as career threatening or career changing as Morgan's concussions were.

it was an issue. but having the sense that beason is coming back is likely we're not going to take kuechly. having a better Dline makes it easier to have average backers. (ie giants)

We don't run the same scheme at all. Linebackers are critical to Johnson's 4-3 scheme as they have to blitz anywhere from 15-65% of the time, play the run and play short zone in coverage. Half of our sacks should come from the linebackers. So the reason we actually sucked last year was just as due to linebacker injuries as it was to poor d-line play. Right now though we have more depth on the D line than we do at linebacker especially if Connor leaves. Frankly Kuechly solves the whole issue. He can start at Will and can slide to the middle if Beason can't play. He is insurance at both positions.

Not sure about that. With the marvels of today science I don't think it's as career threatening as it was lets say just 5 years ago. A torn ACL or torn rotator cuff used to be the end. Now it's not.

My dream would be for the Panthers to trade up into the bottom part of the first round with that high second round pick, draft a stud DT and a CB or LB. That would be the best scenario in my eyes since we all know Marty will not go after top talent in free agency.

I'd take Poe too. We just have to strengthen our pass rush, especially on the inside.
