If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

I'm hunting lulz

Go back to not wanting Cam Newton again....because your input seems to be spot on when it comes to drafting.

I was completely wrong on Newton....and have said so many time.

Still does not make any of your comments any more intelligent or relevant.....that ship has sailed.

You watched every BC game? I doubt it. I watched him when the played NC State...he was everywhere. Great college LB. Helluva tackler.

Has he reached his full potential though? I think he's already playing at the top of his game. My opinion obviously differs. If he's the pick I'm fine with it (like i have a choice :)) but I'd prefer a DL/CB and a LB in the second.

i don't see him to have reached his potential. not sure why you would believe that. every year his production and level of play has grown.

he's got just as much room for growth as anyone in the draft, imo. the only thing is, his floor is already higher than most.

i agree i'd rather us have a DT or CB first in the draft, but if this guy is the pick i'm still going to be excited.

i don't know about him being a generational talent, but i totally believe that he is in the top 3 defensive talents in this draft.

It was completely irrelevant just like trying to replace Beason because we have a bunch of premeds running around.

This team has put a premium on drafting LBs and RBs in the 1st rounds and it's maddening.

I just want to get that warm and fuzzy feeling about him. I see him and see Aaron Curry...I don't want to. Trust me.

this could be a great pick, especially if the organization has doubts about Beason coming back full strength, he could be put back outside where he only has to really cover one side of the field. Panthro is right kinda about something, he is no Willis and Willis went #10, so he could be gotten at a lower draft position than #9. I am just not excited about this pick in general for some reason damn't.

No he wasn't good in zone look at the analysis. Find me one that says he was good in zone instead of your opinion. As for getting after the quarterback he had 2.5 sacks but no quarterback hurries. So that usually means he tackled a QB who was trying to run moreso than being great attacking the QB. He is a poor man's Kuechly who has good measurables except height and instincts.

2 picks in 2011, 1 in 2010 and 2009. my opinion is based off me watching him play. 8.5 sacks in 2010 when he mostly played OLB cant find hurries and things at the time. so like i said keep trying to make your guy into some super LB. Kuechly is a decent ball player, but you are making him into something he is not.

my bad here is the link.

Not every game but I am an ACC guy...and just watch ACC football. From your posts, you clearly haven't watched him. You can disagree that we don't need him sure...but based on your posts you are talking about a guy you haven't seen play enough. He isn't comparable to Curry. Someone saying he is a safe pick doesn't make him Curry.

I fine with DE, CB, LB at #9...just not DT. DT won't even be close to BPA on D. Guy we can draft in the 2nd round would be too comparable

They have all been studs at least. Davis would have been a stud if Fox hadn't wasted years moving him to S

besides the fact that he only played one year at safety and that was mainly to spy vick before they put him in his normal position, yea, they've been studs, but we burn through them way too quickly. I mean just look at all the games we've gotten out of 3 first round picks at linebacker

in 7 regular seasons Morgan missed 53 games, mainly due to concussions (11th overall pick). The games he's played in amount to roughly 3.5 seasons

we got 3.5 seasons from Davis as a starter (14th overall pick)

and before Beason's achilles blew out which may not allow him to ever play at the level he's been performing again we got 4 seasons worth of starts (25th overall)

so far that's about 11 seasons combined. Cam, another first round selection at QB, is probably going to last us like 14 years. Peppers gave us 8 years and we'd be up to ten if he was willing to stay here, and Gross has given us more than 8 1/2. None of these guys are linebackers.

why do we assume it's just going to be different with drafting another linebacker in the first (now going to be a 9th pick), when the investments we've made at that position have not lasted nearly long enough to justify a first round selection. All we've gotten out of our "stud" linebackers in a long term scope are short careers.

This is a problem you'd generally use FA to fix, not core player drafting investments

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
