we really need to resign shockey, losing him would be huge. we need 2 reliable TEs with how our offense is run and we've got nobody after olsen. barnidge is more for STs, he's never produced as a TE. shockey brings experience, veteran leadership, toughness, attitude, and he's a better blocker than olsen along with what he adds to the receiving game.

if he signs elsewhere and we are stuck rolling the dice with barnidge then i'd consider that a pretty big f**kup by the FO

That would give you Olsen, Shocket, Barnidge, and Hartsock....yes, Hartsock stays because of his play at H Back.

Can't afford to carry 4 TE's.

packers carried 5 TEs last year i believe? lol

considering barnidge would be looked at as a STs guy and hartsock a backup FB I think it's doable. roster space shouldn't be an issue and even if it is you can always dump hartsock or barnidge before shockey. price tag is the only thing im worried about.

Barnidge is not just a ST guy. He has the size and speed to be able to stretch the seam. I am very interested in seeing what he can do in this offense.

Shockey was wanting somewhere in the $4M/season range. Not worth the cap space given how tight we are....even though I would love to have him back.

I want a shockey on offense and I want one on defense

We need a lot of Shockey's on defense.....too nice and soft for some time. Jenkins was the last guy with any edge to him.

      Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.

      I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
