Panthers Apparently "love" Luke Kuechly

The funny thing is Kuechly is SO much better than most of you on here realize. He is easily a top 5 player in this draft and by FAR the best linebacker in this draft. He is great in every aspect. Leadership, off the field, character, playing ability. I know we could really use Dline help or CB help, but I would be thrilled with Kuechly.

I know so is Cox.

I don't get the "not elite athlete" thing in his scouting report.

Again, I wonder if subconscious biases affect them...

All of his combine numbers suggest he IS an elite athlete at the LB position... No other LBs in the league are Pat Willis, but he's on that tier right under him with the numbers he posted across the board. I know tape can look a lot different than workouts in shorts, but from what I've seen of him, he looks plenty explosive in games as well.

As far as pass coverage, I'm more concerned with his quickness and ability to change directions than straight line speed. Again, Beason ran a 4.7 IIRC, and Kuechly ran a 4.5-4.6... Anyone know what their shuttles were? How do they compare in the quickness dept.?

Is Thomas Davis going to come back at 100% and play all 16 games? Who can remember the last time TD played a full season? 2007? Has any player ever came back from 3 ACL tears? Nope. If Beason comes back he most likely won't be at full speed this season, if next. I think its a win win. This guy is a lock to be great. I don't feel that Brockers, Coples, or any of the other players on the Defensive line in the draft are as certain as Kuechly. I don't see how this would be a bad pick.

Outside of Claiborne, I think Kuechly is our best bet. No way TD plays all 16 games without re-injuring and even if he did he will not be the linebacker he was. Love TD's heart but reality is reality. Also with Beason's injury, our LB core is a huge question mark.

If Clay is gone, the choice is easy.

goddammit the inside linebacker position is worth literally nothing and still people want first rounders spent on them.

Yeah, you totally couldnt tell a difference with Beason gone in 2011 vs 2010.

Willis, Lewis, Urlacher, Fletcher, etc.....all bums.

    • It really is insane how they always try to rig the game vs Dallas. Two exceptions being our playoff games.    Had we lost it definitely would have been right up there with the 2014 Playoffs vs 49ers, Dallas 05, Saints 2018 Playoffs, and SB50 as all time rigged games.
    • Say you don't understand PFF without saying you don't understand PFF... Every week seems like some of the same people are complaining about something they clearly don't understand.  I'm not saying they are the end all resource out there but once you understand their methodology you can start to appreciate some of their work. For example, their grading system isn't a high school grading system, try to look at some of it in relative terms.  Rico had an 82 rushing grade, that's pretty good.  I would be curious to know how that compares to every other running back this past weekend. Also, I think he had a few penalties, which if I'm not mistaken are graded pretty harshly.
    • Can we go back to square one for a minute and remember what we paid for this guy and how he was sold?  He was like, the anti excuse. Makes everybody better, Did we get that?  I think the answer is still coming but so far you might can say that for a game or two.  Cam had issues with personnel every season almost. Horrible OL, but he had receivers. Decent to good OL no receivers. Etc. Bryce needs to stand up, or keep standing up, however you want to put it. It is big boy time in year 3. He doesn’t have to make the playoffs but there is a standard. We’ll see what happens.  But the excuses are just fuging tired.  ps, I mean let’s not crown him when he has franchise record production in two wins,.. let’s see when they stop that, how he does then.
