Panthers Apparently "love" Luke Kuechly

Edwards is 32 year old 2 down DT.

We signed a guy already who will push or take martin's job.

Cb is deep in this draft we can get a starter in the 2nd round.

Cox offers rotation at every spot on the Dline.

Cox should be the pick.

Problem for Cox is that we have plenty of DTs and 2 starting DEs. As for linebackers we have 1 starter and 2 huge question marks. The only reason for not taking Kuechly would be that linebackers are not as expensive to find in free agency as DEs and CBs. So most teams look for those guys in the draft. Still the lack of action in free agency suggests we are looking for LBs in the draft somewhere.

Should we draft another LB in the first round after doing it twice in the past 7 drafts, again if Beason and Davis were 100%, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But they aren't and here we are.

BPA is Cox.

Debatable. Either would be nice additions, and I would not be diisappointed if Cox were the pick. I am just acknowledging that Kuevhlu is a hell of a lb and a real possibility with the injuries that Beason and Davis are trying to come back from.

I trust Rivera when it comes to defensive players. I am fine with whoever he thinks is. BPA and the best pick for the team.

Lack of action? We"ve signed 2 Lb and tender 2 before FA started. We have plenty of bodies at DT no real impact player at that position. Cox givs you flexability at so many position on the dline.

More like BPA argument. Trademark of successful franchises. Teams that reach for players due to perceived needs have proven to not be as successful.

Yeah your right, Cam definitely wasnt considered a reach of a perceived need by "experts" at the time.....

I still think there are quite a few guys in play for the pick. Picks at DE, DT,LB, or CB could realistically be the pick....and all would upgrade the team.

Gonna be an exciting draft.

    • Coaches can't mentor, they coach, they are two entirely different things, and your coaches can also only do so many things at one time.  When they're running a drill, the vets are pulling the young guys aside after their reps and giving tips while waiting for the drill to reset. You do also realize that for the most part, players are only around the coaches in the film room and on the field, coaches aren't in the locker room other than just before the game and at half.  That's another place someone like Thielen shines, he's always been a pro's pro, he's going to take these young WRs under his wing and team them how you go about being an NFL player. That's not stuff coaches do, you NEED the vets for it and Thielen has embraced the role.  When you have a guy who made his career on doing the little things right, and he is willing to be that vet mentor to a group of young WRs in their 1st or 2nd year that you hope to be your future 1-4, then he's worth every penny we're giving him this year.
    • Why in Minnesota? That's bizarre. Not like we have a vet WR who played his college ball and the majority of his NFL ball in Minnesota that a few room temperature IQ Panthers fans want to poo on who was obviously brought in every bit as much to mentor young WRs as much as he was to play who has still managed to put up decent numbers in awful offenses in the twilight of his career. Anyone who thinks the Panthers haven't gotten everything out of Thielen that they signed up for shouldn't be taken seriously.
