Godfrey has been here for yearS. At this point he is clearly entering.....he is what he is status. Not a very good S

Godfrey isnt losing a spot. I think he will make an impact this year.

I think Godfrey will love having actual LBs back on the field so he can Blitz and ball hawk more.

I thought Godfrey played well, it was Martin who played like it was two hand touch out there.

Its been known for a while that Godfrey and Martin took time to learn a system. I think both will be better this year and if not there is a contingency plan for Martin or Godfrey.

I agree with Simple, we will run more 21 personnel this year instead of 12 personnel last year. We will run Barnidge when we want pass out of 22 personnel or use one of blocking tight ends if we want to pound the ball. If Barnidge wants to start he needs to work on his blocking so he is an upgrade over the Brockel, Hartsock, and Smith.

Traditionally Chuds offense is a one back system. He would line up TE in the backfield or 2 RBs for the option but did we even carry a true fullback last year? It would only be speculation to say how we will use Tolbert. Chud is pretty amazing at coming up with the unexpected.

I think he was spot on...and that surprises the hell out of me since it was Prisco. But everyone needs to realize that he was basing our needs on what players have done in the past, and to be honest, other than showing a few flashes, Barnidge has never done anything to make anyone comfortable that he can duplicate Shockey's production last year. I think he has the tools, but he hasn't shown it yet (IMO, that was due to Fox's system, but still a valid reason to believe we may still need more at TE).

As for WR, as much as everyone likes LaFells development, he still only pulled in 36 or 37 receptions last year...and that's when he really was set up to become a bigger part of the offense. And while many think Gettis can become a key player for us, the reality is that he only showed a couple of flashes. He didn't break out and all we have to go on is speculation on whether he would have if he hadn't gone on IR last year. Also, it's been reported that the team would have taken Green if we weren't comfortable with Cam, so that alone should give you an indication of the impression Rivera had of Gettis and Lafell...both potential guys, but not enough to be content with as our #2 and 3 receivers. And while he's had a chance to see LaFell up close and personal, he really hasn't seen enough of Gettis to change his initial impressions.

This opinion has so many holes in it.

1. Nobody looked good or great in the 2010 offense. Using that year to judge anybody is a mistake.

2. Lafell was the 4th or 5th target on this team. Smith,Olson, Shockey, Legadue, not to mention the Rb were thrown to more then him. So expecting him to have caught 70-60 ball when the main target only had 79 rec. is stupid. So I don't know where you get this set-up for big things crap.

3. AJ green is more talented then any wr in this draft. Saying the team would have drafted him doesn't mean they don't like Lafell or Gettis. Green just had talent you couldn't pass on no wr in this draft is in his class.

4. A healthy Gettis can make more of a impact in this offense then any rookie in this wr draft class.

He has equal or better skill sets then any of them.

He has pro exp.

He knows the playbook and been to all the team meetings last year.

He has already worked with Cam and 89 and Lafell.

Chud used a FB in Clev and Norv has always used a FB in SD.

But with Cam I don't want to see a ton of traditional power run formations. Thought Chud made a good step last year in building Cams offense

I thought it was a good article.It will be a challenge to fill the needs and unknowns.We really need some these unknown guys to step up.

The people saying "I don't understand the love for Barnidge" Obviously don't pay close enough attention to the team. They obviously haven't watched him in preseason or previous seasons. There have been few moments where he has had chances to show what he can do, but when he has gotten those opportunities he has taken full advantage. He will shock you and be better than you can even imagine. So quit saying there shouldn't be any love for him just because, you personally, have not seen what he can do. Start paying more attention. Soon enough you'll be on the Barnidge train.

You have to admit panther fans' lovefest for average TEs is well documented. Rosario was our last lovefest where I was bashed for saying he needed to go. Fans forget that coaches watch these guys in practice every day and they don't hold back talent as many suggest.

We haven't had a pass rush in years so it is tough to judge Godfrey. I don't mind him at all.
