Marty Hurney Apparently Lied About Fletcher Cox

I would rather draft Jaye Howard over Cox, Jaye Howard a 6th rounder..

And the DT we need in the mliddle, look at this video Jaye stay focused on the RB and the QB he did 2 mistakes but otherwise its rather impressive.

Btw highlights videos mean nothing.

2 question.

Did you not see him get blasted off the ball and the couple 5 yards penalties he gave up?

What year was this? I swear I saw Janoris Jenkins on the Field for UF in that video.

koolkatluke - We ALL get it already........

You LOVE COX. It's ok that you Love Cox, but you seem to have an unhealthily fascination with Cox. Cox is the answer to everything with you. Just b/c you love Cox and think about Cox all the time does not mean everyone wants to hear about your obsession with Cox. So please for the love of god put a sock on your Cox love affair. I'm just so tired of hearing about COX!!! I wish people had a deep desire to talk about pussy-willows more..... :P

The term hurry is precisely defined by cfbstats.com which is the official counter of hurries. If you want to create your own then you can do it however you want. But for example if the pass is completed then by their definition it isn't a hurry since the point of a hurry is to negate the play. If the play is completed then the defender being in the area didn't disrupt the play. This wasn't my number this is the official number kept by the NCAA to measure hurries. You seem to be the one that is creating your own definition to suit your purposes. Perhaps if you had pointed out that you created your own definition and applied your own unofficial standards then we could have avoided the whole disagreement. I apparently wrongly assumed we were measuring things according to the NCAA rules for doing so.

You did not read my original post then, because I clearly stated how I measured an impact play. Flushing the QB out of the pocket, throwing the ball before he was ready, etc. Goto my Cox vs Brockers 1st post, the details are there. Sorry man.

And impact play is totally selective. I understand what you are trying to do but when you try and reinvent what have been stats or measured phenomenon by creating your own they become meaningless. The good news is that no can argue with you since you created your own definitions and interpretations.

Koolkat added pressures and you acted impactful plays. I am going to add "kinda, sorta, mostly" plays so I can decide who is the better player in any situation.

I set parameters on how I was grading those videos and I was consistent within those parameters in videos that I viewed. My point is that Cox is more disruptive than your stats indicate. You are using your 1 hurry stat to prove that he wasn't that productive and that he won't have that great of an impact on our team. Well I am telling you that you are being very misleading with that stat. My stats are telling the true impact that he had in college. My stats go far more in depth than the stat you are looking at. I am tabulating impact plays.. But the fact remains that he efffected those plays. Call them what you will.

Yours aren't any kind of official stats. They are made up by you and you decide what qualifies. Are you an expert in this field?? No. You are a wanna analyst using your own made up definitions and observations watching you-tube footage or game footage which anyone who watches coaches tape will tell you is not very accurate or useful. This is a joke. I am not going to go back and forth while you justify your version of what you think you see as the true impact of what happened. I will stick with the professional analyses and official numbers and stats. Do what you want.

Lout I thought you did an excellent job on your write up between Cox and Brockers. Keep up the good work.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
