My two cents on the draft...

Everette Brown: I think he's the perfect player for meeks system but he won't be able to start for a long time due to his one dimensional skill set. He upgrades our pass rush ability immediately which should improve our defense but not as dramatically as some are hoping.

Sherrod Martin: My jaw dropped when I saw we had drafted a saftey but when I realized our intentions I was very happy with this pick. For those who wanted Sean Smith, Martin outperformed him in every category for a CB.

For those who think martin is here to be the nickleback, this assumption is false. Martin is here to play outside, marshall will cover the slot like he usually does. I think that marshall will probably be named the starter, but both will see an equal amount of playing time just like when ken lucas was here.

I also forgot to mention the physical nature that martin will bring to the positoin, lucas was a physical corner but he lost a lot of that as his body broke down.

Corvey Irvin: I think he's a project for the future. He offers good depth compared to last year, but anybody would look good compared to last year's depth. I think he can contribute on passing downs but he also helps by strengthening our rotation.

Mike Goodson: With Williams and Stewart on the roster, it's fitting that we go after another playmaking RB. He could see the field on certain packages but I really just see him as our 3rd down RB. I don't think he'll return kicks, ryne robinson is probably the better option.

Tony Fiametta: The heir to nick goings. Blocking, rushing, recieving, and special teams...he does it all. I'm not sure if he will be activated on gamedays but this pick could shore up the FB position for 10 years. Some of his scouting reports aren't very flattering but when you think of what we require of the FB position i think he's a better reciever and rusher than hoover.

Duke Robinson: Classic road grader and has the most upside out of all guards in the draft. He can start from day one and will give us a dominating run game that matches the giants/steelers. I'm worried about the fact that he fell so far, when you're the best ranked guard in the draft and that many teams pass on you...it's gotta mean something. He could suprisingly be the only starter we have out of this draft.

Captain Munnerlyn: A pick for depth, I don't see him beating out wesley or wilson, but that's what preseason is for.

I love the Fiametta pick and think he's the heir apparent to Hoover, not Goings. He's a very good lead blocker and that's what we need with Hoover getting older.

Strengths:

Good natural athlete...Decent timed speed...Terrific blocker...Has soft hands and is a threat out of the backfield...Is extremely tough and physical...Excellent strength...Outstanding work ethic...Nice instincts and awareness...Versatile...Still has upside...Lots of experience...Real mature...A leader and team captain...Also has special teams potential.

the steelers have a dominating run game? they were 23rd in rush yards and had a rushing avg of 3.7. BAN!

I mean more from the jerome bettis days when they would run on you whether you like it or not.

A good example is the giants/ravens game this year. The absolutely dominated one of the best defenses on the gound. It was epic.

I was going to say the same thing.

I don't think you could ask for a better replacement for Hoover. Of course, I've yet to see him play at the pro level, but he seems to have similar ability as well as intangibles.

I'm very excited we've got him.

I think we had the most underrated draft of all. We didnt need much. We got what we needed and some good pickups. The FO may not hit a home run like last year but the sure made a solid double. We get a spell/starter DE, a nickel or dime db, a 3rd running back, hoovers heir apparent, and o-line depth.

Great Draft

I agree as well. Without the first rounder and not a slew of seconds and thirds, our draft went pretty well under the radar and I think under the circumstances we filled holes. With a tight salary cap, we got a bunch of mid rounders that won't require the higher salaries of first rounders, and the team had Brown as a first round talent so the FO feels good about that.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
