Panthers Playing In 2012 Election Game

from the Panthers' schedule:

Sun. Nov. 4 at Washington Redskins FedEx Field 1:00 p.m. FOX

The eyes of the nation will be on Panthers vs. Redskins this season, as the winner of the Redskins' last home game before the presidential election historically correlates very strongly with the outcome of the presidential race. Troubling if you're a Panthers/Obama supporter. Panthers/Romney supporters shouldn't have any mixed feelings, though. Hey, if we're gonna have a hundred different threads about the Madden Curse, this at least deserves a mention.

For the uninitiated (from about.com): "In 18 out of the last 19 elections, when the Redskins have won their final home game prior to the election, the incumbent has held the White House. The one exception to the Redskins Rule was 2004, when the Green Bay Packers beat the Redskins, but John Kerry still went on to lose President Bush. This year the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Redskins in a blowout, portending a possible Obama landslide."

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
