Which Player Deserves One More Shot?

Every year before the draft, we evaluate players that we hope to bring and make an immediate impact on this team. Last year many argued that Jimmy Clausen deserved one more shot to be the starting QB instead of taking Cam Newton. This year we find ourselves to be in the same position with a handful of players jobs being on out on the line.

With that being said, which player deserves to play one more year as a starter before we bring in someone via the draft to take over?

Terrell McClain/Sione Fua - possible replacement (Fletcher Cox, Michael Brockers, Devon Still, Jerell Worthy)

Captain Munnerlyn/Brandon Hogan - possible replacement (Dre Kirkpatrick, Stephon Gilmore, Janoris Jenkins)

Greg Hardy - possible replacement (Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram, Nick Perry, Chandler Jones)

David Gettis/Armanti Edwards - possible replacement (Michael Floyd, Stephen Hill, Kendall Wright)

Thomas Davis - possible replacement (Luke Kuechly, Zach Brown, Lavonte David)

Sherrod Martin - possible replacement (Markelle Martin, George Iloka, Trumaine Johnson)

Geoff Hangartner, Mike Pollack - possible replacement (David DeCastro, Amini Silatolu, Kevin Zeitler)

Jeff Otah, Byron Bell - possible replacement (Riley Reiff, Jonathan Martin, Bobby Massie)

Terrell McClain/Sione Fua - I'll trust the coaching staff opinion on this.

Captain Munnerlyn/Brandon Hogan - Hogan yes. Captain only in nickle packages

Greg Hardy - should only be situational.... so no.

David Gettis/Armanti Edwards - Gettis-hell yes. AE-Hell no!

Thomas Davis - of course he should but I think it'll take awhile for him to be 100%

Sherrod Martin - no

Geoff Hangartner, Mike Pollack - yes

Jeff Otah, Byron Bell - yes

Not cpt. Not martin. They have proven they cant play. The rest just havent proven they can. If that makes any sense.

One bad year isn't proof you can't play. The rest of their NFL resume isn't bad. Capt just isn't a #2. Godfrey has displayed much more crap play in Carolina than Martin. Neither S should be safe

    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
    • The last 8 weeks, Nix had 2,022 yards, 21 TDs, 6 INTs on 70% completions While Bryce's last 8 games he had 1,709 yards, 12 TDs (albeit adding 5 more rushing), 3 INTs on 61% completions. I'm not going to pretend I watched those Broncos games to know exactly how Nix actually looked, but in retrospect, his statistics were better.  Hell, in just his final 8 games, Nix had only 5 less TD passes than Bryce has in his 30 game (28 starts) career. And you said he had better WRs than Bryce did, but I'm not even sure that's even true either. Sutton and Thielen might be completely different types of WRs, but I'd say they are pretty equal on effectiveness if not even a slight edge to Thielen (63.6 YPG for Sutton to 61.5 for Thielen).  Then XL and Coker vs Marvin Mims and Devaughn Vale, again, at worst a push, if not lean in our favor there too. Why is it so hard for some Panthers fans to just objectively look at our team/Bryce and be honest with themselves. ? He was significantly improved the final two months of the season from his first season and a half.  But he was still a below average QB during that time, even if he had a few good throws and clutch moments.
