The Irony Of "luck"

All I know is I want him to fail. I hate that. I feel bad about it. And the worst thing is it has nothing to do with Luck (he seems like a nice guy) or Cam Newton. It is because of the media dick sucking on the guy for the last 18 months.

In my opinion he isn't even that much better a prospect than Eli was when he was coming out.

But I am pretty sure he isn't going to fail. He is a baller and at worst he is just going to be really good. At best he is going to be a Hall of Famer.

Eh - anything can happen. He's likely to be very good (and I don't begrudge him that if he is) but he could end up with a mediocre career as well. I dunno...I guess the media blowjobs don't bother me that much because they tend to slob someone every year. With him we just had to endure it a little longer b/c he stayed in school.

He stayed in school because he was at one of the best in the country, and he is a smart guy who wanted to finish what he started. To say he didn't wanna be a Panther is rather silly..... I don't think he cares that much. In interviews he seems like a pretty laid back guy who really felt like saying "IDGAF, I just want to go to my team and get to work".

You are instead making a theory out of something, instead of taking a kid's word, and with no reason not too.

ANDREW LUCK SAID THAT HE WAS GOING TO STAY AT STANFORD BEFORE THE 2010 SEASON BEGAN

ANDREW LUCK SAID THAT HE WAS GOING TO STAY AT STANFORD BEFORE THE 2010 SEASON BEGAN

and just so im clear

ANDREW LUCK SAID THAT HE WAS GOING TO STAY AT STANFORD BEFORE THE 2010 SEASON BEGAN

It's history now, so no matter, but my only question is: why did he say he hadn't made a decision leading up to the deadline? If he made the decision before the season started, why the suspense? Why not just keep re-iterating that he was staying?

I think he will be good, but don't think he has Cam's fire, and that is often the difference between good and great.

Plus, he's got that damn neck beard...that just freaks me out.

Or maybe - and I know this is a way out theory - he just wanted to stay in school and finish his degree like he actually said he wanted to do, like he had previously promised his father he would, and like loads of NFL prospects do on an annual basis (take this guy named Manning, for example).

Yeah, I know that's a real stretch of the imagination, but hey, ya never know

Impossible!

Stupid conspiracy theories are far more likely.

Didn't Luck attend Payton's camp? I bet he respected Paytons decision to stay in college all four years and wanted to do the same. I also think that he love college, loved Stanford and wanted to win a national championship.

Ive always liked Andrew Luck, but his decision to go back to school rubbed me the wrong way. I love the way it worked out, but for Luck, instead of replacing Jimmy Clausen at QB and no real pressure, hes replacing Peyton Manning on a team that is arguably worse than our 2-14 team.

fug that pretty boy bitch. He looked down on us like a bunch of country hicks and now he's going to a team worse than we were last year and with much less talent around him.

I would not be surprised one bit if Luck winds up being a bust. It's been a while since we've had a high profile QB bust that EVERYONE expected to be great. Jamarcus Russell doesn't count since there were a lot of doubters with him.

I don't think he'll be a disaster, but it wouldn't shock me if he goes to that awful team and gets David Carr'd and winds up about on the level of Alex Smith.

This horse has been dead for awhile... (about why he really stayed) and I didn't mean to open up that can of worms again.

What I really meant to convey was this: if Andrew Luck could do it all over again, I wonder if he would have done things differently. I do find it ironic that he has no talent in Indi and we're primed for a deep playoff run.

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
