Patriots Contacted Panthers About #9 Pick

For their two first round picks and the late second or maybe the third, yes I would make the trade.

The Draft value chart says that our 9th for their 27th, 31st, and 4th round pick (126 or so) will put us at about 1350 (us) 1326 (Pats) so that's about the closest you're going to get.

I'd do it in a heartbeat.

At 27 and 31, we could get two starters on defense. Curry/Perry are just as good as Coples, and we could also get someone like Jerel Worthy or even Dontari Poe that late.

I would love this. We have needs and two picks like this would go. Long way in filling those needs.

Just heard Jay Glazer said that GMs are thinking the highest value players are going to be available from 16-40.

We don't need a high value pick when we have the 9 pick. If we can trade back a couple spots that is fine, but late first is a mistake.

    • I agree with this. Florida is going to be tough to beat. But they can’t keep that group together much longer so the hurricanes window might open a little wider.  My problem is the series should have looked the way it did in games 4 and 5. From the second period of game 1 thru 3 were an abysmal effort and the players just looked defeated. I was very disappointed in the overall effort until games 4 and 5. I think it’s very fair to ask if Rod is the right man for the job right now. If they’d gotten swept again and they lost game 4 like 5-0, id say he might need to go. But I think the team bounced back enough to give him another year with the front office going all in to bolster the roster. Failure to reach the finals with a full push to build the roster to win now, Rod goes next offseason, and the team focuses on retooling around their younger players.
    • Look very carefully at the jersey numbers and let it sink in.
    • The team had a great season all things considered and definitely overachieved.  I don't think many of us had our expectation level set at deep playoff run after the 2nd Rantanen trade. With the current league format, someone has to come out of the Metropolitan division.  Look at the teams we have to climb over to get to the ECF.  It's not exactly a division that's full of contenders.  Smack around the Islanders and the Devils and now you're in the ECF against the survivor from the better division.
