Really, they did. Have any of you?

The interwebz is such an easy place to throw out your two-penny opinions with NO REPROCUSSIONS. Sure, if you believe you are smarter or know more about 1) the health and structure of our team and 2) individual workouts, interviews and vast game tape of players in the this draft than the guys working and making decisions... well I don't even really know how to respond to that other than calling you a fool. That is all. A+ first round pick for our Carolina Panthers.

I agree that no one here knows enough to pretend that they know more than the FO but a lot of people called the Jarrett pick an A+ and there's no doubt that the staff did their due diligence before picking him. It looks like a great pick now but they aren't perfect and it could end up being a terrible pick when it's all said and done.

The debate isn't (for the most part) whether Kuechly is a great prospect or not. The debate is whether we should have gone for another position given our needs and current roster.

It's like me coming home to my wife with a sack of organic high quality potatoes that are potentially the best potatoes ever eaten by a person, and she responds with "well we've already got some two sacks of potatoes right here, and I sent you to store to buy butter jackass!"

People that are upset don't care how good a potato Kuechly is. They wanted some damn butter.

Really good potatoes and really good butter are even better together.

I understand people getting upset that we didn't pick a player that they wanted. But that is their opinion. They might as well ask your best friend what is best for your wife. He doesn't have any idea. Hell, his answer might not be favorable to you.

    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
    • The last 8 weeks, Nix had 2,022 yards, 21 TDs, 6 INTs on 70% completions While Bryce's last 8 games he had 1,709 yards, 12 TDs (albeit adding 5 more rushing), 3 INTs on 61% completions. I'm not going to pretend I watched those Broncos games to know exactly how Nix actually looked, but in retrospect, his statistics were better.  Hell, in just his final 8 games, Nix had only 5 less TD passes than Bryce has in his 30 game (28 starts) career. And you said he had better WRs than Bryce did, but I'm not even sure that's even true either. Sutton and Thielen might be completely different types of WRs, but I'd say they are pretty equal on effectiveness if not even a slight edge to Thielen (63.6 YPG for Sutton to 61.5 for Thielen).  Then XL and Coker vs Marvin Mims and Devaughn Vale, again, at worst a push, if not lean in our favor there too. Why is it so hard for some Panthers fans to just objectively look at our team/Bryce and be honest with themselves. ? He was significantly improved the final two months of the season from his first season and a half.  But he was still a below average QB during that time, even if he had a few good throws and clutch moments.
