Cam Newton On Nfl.com's All-Star Soccer/football Team

Recommended Posts

Yes, I know this is corny and dumb but it's the flipping off-season and there is nothing else to talk about.

They had Cam as one of the four midfielders and this was what was said about him...

Newton has an obvious knack for creating explosive plays, scoring a rookie record 14 rushing touchdowns in 2011. That free will to score when the opportunity arises will be presented frequently to Newton on the pitch as an attacking midfielder. In the NFL, RG3 and Newton -- two of the most exciting young quarterbacks to hit the league in quite some time -- would never hit the field together. But on NFL United, this dream pairing can wreak havoc in the midfield. At 6-foot-5, Newton will also be a stout presence on corner kicks and crosses.

So without further a due, here is your All-Star Team

Goalie: Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions)

Defender: Darrelle Revis (New York Jets)

Defender: Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals)

Defender: Patrick Willis (San Francisco 49ers)

Defender: Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots)

Midfielder: Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers)

Midfielder: Robert Griffin III (Washington Redskins)

Midfielder: Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)

Midfielder: Darren Sproles (New Orleans Saints**)

Forward: Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Forward: Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals)

They literally put no thought into this.

Just took all the top names in the NFL and put them at random positions.

I sure as hell hope that this isn't going to be a real event. Cam doesn't need to be playing soccer period. Yet alone with these competitive people who would like nothing more than for Cam to be hurt, so that they don't even have to see him this year.

    • The motto means nothing if they lay down and submit to the opponent. One of the most embarrassing things I have seen from twenty years of being a fan.  Regardless if the lead seems to be insurmountable, you keep giving 110% untill the final second. Canales is definitely a Beta and it wasn't a good look at all. I wonder what the locker room was whispering about after that sh%t. I hope we never see this again and he actually grows a pair of balls. He needs to look in the mirror and understand that you just don't do that in the NFL. Maybe peewee football so kids don't get hurt. Throw the 3rd stringers in to run the play and finish the game wirh some some pride and don't bend the knee.
    • No but we should have kept both of them. People complaining about what he got paid can’t say much now because it’s absolutely worth it to get 15 sacks which we could desperately use, especially when you compare it to some of the free agents we have signed to try to replace that production (none of them have come close and we are wasting good money on them)
    • That period started rough but the canes stayed with it.  They will when this game 3-1 or 4-2 the way it’s going.
