Tolbert on what his job will be

"I'd like to think that I'm the missing piece," Tolbert said. "The offense was ranked high (seventh) in total offense, and I'd like to think that I'm the missing piece to push us all the way to number one.

"Our potential is unlimited."

Tolbert said he knows what his job will entail but would only said it would include "a lot of fullback stuff" and "a lot of different stuff."

Tolbert on what he can provide for the Panthers

"If you're a ballplayer, you're going to find a way to get on the field," Tolbert said. "I've always prided myself on being able to catch the ball well and doing whatever I need to do to stay on the field – pass catching, blocking, running, whatever.

"You never know what's going to happen. Guys get hurt every day – Stew might get hurt or I might get hurt of DeAngelo. I'm not wishing that on anybody, but it's always better to have three than two or four than three."

Tolbert on being close to home

"Being this close to home helps," Tolbert said. "I don't have to buy as many plane tickets like when I was on the West Coast. People can just drive up."

Tolbert on knowing a lot of the coaching staff

"That had a big impact," Tolbert said. "It's just familiarity, coming somewhere where I knew people already. That just made it comfortable and easier to come here than elsewhere."

Tolbert on Cam Newton and the Goal Line

"You can't forget about Cam. He's the ultimate weapon – run, pass - he can do it all," Tolbert said. "If he's willing to give them up, I'm willing to take them. They call me the vulture for a reason.

"Some people say I have a knack for it. When I see a white line, I just make sure I get across it with the ball."

I wanted to jump through my tv today when they were talking about the Tolbert signing & Cam finally having a weapon at rb to ease some pressure.

Who was saying that? I heard nothing of the sort. I heard a lot of stupidity about trading one of our backs, but nothing that ignored them.

It wasn't Polian or Wiley. It was either the host or the guy beside Polian. They mentioned the Tolbert signing & I heard a comment of how it would give Cam a running game or something. I'm pretty sure it was a shot at or disrespect of double trouble but I could have misunderstood the statement.

Actually it was Polian that said it!

The thing I like about the Tolbert signing:

He's so versatile, so when he lines up in the backfield you don't know if it's as a FB, H-Back, or a 2nd RB, as in how Stew and D-Lo would line up in the backfield at the same time sometimes, so defenses don't know what to expect.

Also when Stew & D-Lo was in the game together there was a big chance the Option was coming, now when Tolbert is in the backfield with either one, you never know when it's coming.

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
