Cam's Popularity In Atlanta At A Braves Game

For what it is worth, I wore my Panthers gear to the Memorial Day Braves game. I refuse to over-exaggerate and post that every person I made eye contact with bro-hugged me, but it was a little out of control at the Varsity when at least six people at once were at mine and my brother's table giving us high fives and asking about what Charlotte thought about Cam. Sat in section 220R, row 7 seat 6 and had three or four more families (not people) ask me if I was a Panther fan during the game, I assume based solely on my hat and T. They love H.A.M., Ace Boogie in Hotlanta and the Panthers are starting to get fans outside of the Queen City. Braves got stomped, but I left feeling like a winner.

My 7 year old son had his jersey on when we were on our way to Disney. Stopped at Cheddars in Savanah for dinner and we had 4 different individuals approach us and comment about Cam. Hasn't been this way since Delho............

The Atlanta Braves and Falcon fans have never disrepected Panther jerseys ta=hat I've see, in fact quite friendly folks. They do have a little hatred for the Saints* but who doesn't? Tampa fans are also respectful to opponent fans I've found to be true.

There's a good number of Cam Newton/Panther fans in Atlanta. I know quite a few myself. Soon, panther territory will stretch from Newport News, VA to Auburn/Opelika, AL lol

Side Note: sucks seeing the Braves go through this losing streak. I'm a big J-Hey fan and he's struggling.

The only things there's more of than black people in Atlanta are Auburn grads. As soon as they walk across the stage to get their management degree or MBA they keep walking east down 20 until they get an entry level job at some accounting firm.

It's basically "love the Falcons, but cheer for Cam."

Also keep in mind Cam is from a really shitty part of Atlanta and is already rebuilding the entire town down there. He's kind of a god.

Gotta also remember most of the Falcons fans that have put a horrible taste in our mouths were Vick fans, not Falcon fans. Cam also appeals to urban youth and fans like Vick did, but not in a thuggish way, more like how Obama appeals to urban youth. A big portion of these fans are switching over to being Cam fans.

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Vikings bring back a familiar face Vikings get: WR Adam Thielen Panthers get: 2026 sixth-round pick, 2027 seventh-round pick A reunion between Thielen and his former team seems too easy. The Vikings are struggling with injuries at wide receiver and a potential Jordan Addison suspension. The Panthers want to see what they have with their younger wideouts, and Hunter Renfrow's emergence in camp as a potential fourth or fifth option could squeeze a roster spot for Thielen, who doesn't play special teams. The problem is Thielen's $6.25 million base salary. The Vikings obviously would prefer the Panthers cut the 34-year-old and pick him up for free, but Carolina already paid Thielen a $1.5 million roster bonus earlier in the offseason, suggesting it expected to have him. His salary isn't yet guaranteed, but it will become so if he's on the roster in Week 1, leaving the Panthers until then to make a decision. If he does get released, he isn't likely to get anything close to $6.25 million from another team, so he also is facing some uncertainty. All sides involved probably would need to give a bit to make a mutually advantageous deal work. The Panthers would eat $1.5 million of Thielen's contract, getting two of the three picks the Vikings got from the Jets in the Harrison Phillips trade in return. Thielen would take a $1 million pay cut in return for having the remaining $3.8 million guaranteed. The Vikings cleared out almost exactly that much when they made the Phillips trade, allowing them to absorb what's left of Thielen's contract as part of the deal. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46053274/nfl-preseason-trades-2025-team-offers-players-draft-picks-contracts
    • From JoeBucsFan. Teams don't usually waste 2nd round picks like that. Kind of sounds like they think he just doesn't belong in the NFL.
